I have an '08 Uly with 6K miles. I've had to continually add oil since i've had it. Is this normal? Or could this be a sign of a more serious issue? Does this symptom go away as the engine continues to break in? Thanks in advance |

Define "lots". Some oil consumption is normal. It will use less oil once broken in. If you are overfilling it, the extra oil will end up in your air filter. |

How much are you filing it up to. Mine is full when the oil is on the 2nd or 3rd x on the oil stick. |

I fill it up to the middle typcially. After 2000 miles this summer i've probably added a full quart. |

You aren't alone, in the last 3400 miles, my 08 has used 48oz of oil. Just to make sure I have all the normal excuses covered: It's not a break-in thing, as I think she should be very well broken in at 17k miles. I always checked hot, as in left hand is killing the ignition while right hand is pulling dip stick. Air filter is dry, just a hint of oil on the top of the airbox. Never fill past the second X, usually just to make it so the stick is wet unless I have high miles planned. |

My '06 Uly used a little oil for the initial 5000 miles, (maybe about 2/3 of a quart), and for the next 5000 miles, it uses less than the remaining 1/3 of a quart left in the bottle. Now it uses less than that. As the other guys have already said, DO NOT OVERFILL |

I would think a quart in 2000 miles is within specs. I would however take it to a dealer and see what they say. Mine uses very little and I don't add between changes. Maybe you should try another brand or change from mineral or synthetic and try it again. |
