Well I don't know if everyone is metric but the ones I have removed have been metric. The Black Buttonhead Torx screws are metric threads and are a T30 versus a T27 on the other Buells (which were 1/4-20 threads). I hope this helps. Neil S. |

Yes, I think the bike is entirely metric... I haven't looked at every fastener, either, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it's an American-made metric bike! |

Pretty standard these days. Wish we'd just convert already! |

It hadn't even occurred to me that I might have to retool to do any wrenching on a Buell. The US is the last holdout of imperialism (well... unless you count Liberia and Burma)! |

It depends on the year, I think. The 2008 models still have some SAE bits. I think the 2009 models are entirely metric. I could be mistaken. |

The 1125's did not change from 08'-09'. Black fasteners (buttonhead) are metric, SS fasteners (buttonhead) are SAE. From the state of disassembly I have done, everything else is metric. When you talk about XB's, they are more of a mix-mash of SAE and a few metric. FOr what you will do on the road, you tool kit, with a few heavy duty sockets and a long breaker bar for the axles, will take care of you. Having experienced a tire change will help a lot before you try it on the road! Later Neil S. |

SAE stuff should be banned from production bikes. There is no reason other than stubbornness that they even still exist. Now you need twice as many tools to work on bikes if you have an air cooled Buell or HD product in the garage. I have a long rant I have been meaning to post about this. |

If you are American, and don't already have a complete set of both SAE and Metric tools, there is something seriously wrong with you. Get with the program.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/rolleyeser.gif) |

I have no SAE tools, either... I feel a profound quote coming on... it's Jiddu Krishnamurti time: "It's no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." |

Let me be more specific- if you are American, have any mechanical ability at all, were born prior to 1990, have owned/maintained any vehicle made in the US, ever built something for a child/assembled furniture/done yard tool maintenance/fixed a washer-dryer, water heater, HVAC system, plumbing, electrical, (it goes on and on)... then you have utilized SAE tools in addition to your Metric ones. Therefore, if you don't already have a set, you're too young, you haven't done much maintenance, and you need to get with the program and buy some SAE tools. It's the American way.

1986, but anyway the rest applies. I will have to tell Obama to buy me some American tools, because without the inconvience of wasting twice the space, twice the cost and twice the frustration when trying to find the right socket, I am just not patriotic then. |
