Step 1: Tell me if you plan on coming to Texas next year for the S2 Gathering Step 2: Show Up with an S2 (or other Buell, but you have to ride in the back ) Obviously there's actually a lot more to it than that lol, but it's a start. This is for the Sequel to the "Roundup In The Rockies" (The name above is not the name Of the event, just a catchy thread title ). At this point almost everything is still open, but the timeframe will be either between mid-March and early April or October-early november to try and avoid triple-digit heat indexes. Let me know if you would like to go and email me with any thoughts/suggestions for next year as compared to this year's event. I can say that no one will be leaving Texas without trying some Tex-Mex cookin'. |

I plan on making it. Hopefully I'm screwing anything up on the rebuild. Texas is a big place. What part of Texas do you think it would be? |

In the Texas Panhandle, around Palo Duro Canyon is what I have in mind. I have reasons for this location which I will happily discuss in private via email. There is a lot of scenery and roads in PDC, as well as plenty of hotels, diners, and taverns in Amarillo just north of PDC and Canyon just west. |

Ross, I plan on being there. Your dates are a little early for fair weather travel for the guys and gals from the northern part of the country. How about pushing it into early to mid May. Loren |

Loren is right about the timing, but it won't affect me. I already know I won't be traveling to Texas. I have been there twice on bikes, and it is just too far in the time required. Unlike some iron men, I can't ride for 30 hours nonstop. Well, maybe I could, but I have no desire to. The other thing on the timing isn't just the weather, but the daylight hours. Not that much difference down there, but the farther north you go the bigger the difference in daylight according to the season. That, with the weather, can really affect long distance travel ability. But that's ok, I think the whole point of having it move around is so that different regions get a chance to participate. I think the whole point of having it move around is so that different regions get a chance to participate. That is correct and also to share the joy of overseeing one of these S2 Gatherings so the same people do not get stuck with it every year. I like small towns and think Ross has found a great location not too far from a semi-large town and open area. This is Ross's show so I am only providing advice if Ross ask for it. I would encourage all of you that attended this year to let Ross know what can be done better. Do not worry about hurting my feelings, I don't have any. I would really like to see the next couple of event locations identified but one at a time is good too. For the 30th year of Buell Homecoming I think it would be neat to have it right before or after the factory activities. Maybe someone in that local area would be kind enough to start thinking about that. 2009 - CO 2010 - TX 2011 - 2012 - 2013 - WI 2014 Fill in the blanks. Frank |

Loren, that is a good point. I think we could move it even to early May to help out the other riders. I just don't want everyone to be stuck in June weather around here if it'll be anything like this year- 95-100 6 days of the week. |

Thinking of it as a rotation like this could help. 2009 - CO (West) 2010 - TX (Central) 2011 - East 2012 - West 2013 - WI (Central) 2014 - East 2015 - West (The Bike model is 20 years old) I can see having a push to get S2 owners to the 30th, but really wouldn't want the S2 event being "lost" in the homecoming event. I'm also not sure with my adult onset ADD I could keep myself entertained in Wisconsin for that many days. |

I'm also not sure with my adult onset ADD I could keep myself entertained in Wisconsin for that many days. Do you live in Kansas??? wouldn't want the S2 event being "lost" in the homecoming event It would not be, I promise. I have already talked to someone at Buell, as a heads up, and they thought it was a great idea. Right before or right after the factory events is the key. I think right before. Imagine a bunch of S2s riding around East Troy with some "special treatment". Great layout of the schedule. 2015 and 20 years old! That is great. |

So thusfar these people are planning on coming: Frank (F_Skinner) Loren (Gowindward) Tim (Smoke) Roger (Easy_Rider) RT, there are a lot of fields and such between the towns and the canyon, and for anyone not used to it, I will say that the wind is something to take into consideration around here. It is not uncommon to have 20-30 mph winds or better some days. Down in the Canyon or in town it's not a big deal, but between towns around those fields it can surprise you a little bit. There's plenty of scenery in town, too, with Amarillo and Canyon both being Collge towns . |

Thanks, Phelan--I used to go to Amarillo regularly on business (company I worked for had their HQ there) and one of my co-workers was a dirt biker who lived on the canyon rim. We did a lot of play-racing up and down the dry creek beds in the canyon. This was a few years back--like, back when dirt bikes had twin-shock rear ends! I'm intimately familiar with the wind--standing joke in my house is the "Amarillo Weather Vane"--a short length of heavy chain nailed to a fence post. I just don't remember any interesting paved roads up that way--I'll check it out. Regardless, I'm in, just to be there. rt

Sounds like fun..are there any hills and twisting rodes? I thought the panhandle was flat and tumbleweed country. Haven't been up there to often. isn't there a big Religious statue about Christ crucified in the middle of nowhere, close to Amarillo? I got an email about it about a year ago and thought it would make a good bike ride to. Count me in. |

In Groom, about 45 miles east of AMA. It's the tallest Cross in the western hemisphere. If we have enough people interested, we'll go out there. Amarillo is pretty flat, but there's a lot of fancy stuff in the canyon. We also have a few lakes about the same distance, if anyone's interested in swimming/fishing and what not. |
