With all the budget difficulties stemming from the weak economy, it looks like our local police have started ramping up their ticket quotas. Time for a radar detector. I'm not sure where to pick up the power for the new Escort I just purchased. There's an unused, capped off, plug right in the bottom center of the front nacelle that has just one black and one orange wire. It's not shown on any of the wiring diagrams in my Service Manual, but I suspect it's a switched 12v supply. Does any one know for sure? Does a standard HD Electrical Accessory Adapter (70270-04)fit this? Thank, Eric |

Dunno about your HD p/n, but the Uly accessory harness has the right plug with a cig lighter socket on the other end. p/n Y0198.1AK Oh, and yes, you found the "aux power" connector. Highly recommended to connect all accessories here to ensure battery charging. The ECM will turn off the Accy port if draw is too high or system voltage is too low. Z |

Also don't panic when you turn the key on and there is no power to that circuit. The engine has to be running for it to be energized. |

Thanks - I would have pulled my hair out for at least a few hours before that became apparent |
