I check this board about 10 times a day while I'm at work. If theirs a new thread I read it even in boards that I'm not associated with, like the 1125r thread or uly threads. I look on Ebay for about a hour a day and other forums. Just wondering if other people do it and think that it's stealing? Are there any business owners here that would say it's stealing? |

If you were working for me I wouldn't really care as long as you made up the time. I'm paying you 8 good hours - I want 8 good hours - don't really care how long they take you - unless it's right on deadline. Then I'd say stop being a slack ****. If you aren't making up the time - I'd fire you. Probably good I don't have staff. |

It depends on what your boss is paying you to do, and if you are getting it done. |

Yeah - that is valid too. Put yourself in the other's shoes ad see how you would feel is the best test. |

I work with computers but not the kind that can go on the internet. Not a problem for me. I just wait 'til I get home. |

Soem people spend more energy trying to look busy, than they would have spent actually doing what they have to do. Results matter, so if you are getting the job done I wouldn't care if you took a little "me" time. |

I am on here during the day, usually while I am on hold on the phone. I get paid salary and work around 75 hours a week..get paid for 40...On call 24/7...get calls and work from home...nights, weekends, etc. I asked the boss a few weeks ago to cover for me while I took a WEEKEND off... No problems here with me "stealing" time at work. |

As long as I get things done that are needed on a daily basis, my boss could care less what I do. |

If I did it . . . . I'd never post about it on the internet. . . . but then I'd never post photos of all my weapons if I had any either. Bad guys and company auditors can be sneaky . . . ask Blake.

It's a bit tricky for me, tramping down the road at 90kmh with 40 ton gross. The coppers tend to take a dim view of you driving & surfing at the same time. Oh it's not unknown for me to check email on my 3g cellphone, but only on quiet stretches of motorway at night to pass the time. Over here if you cause a fatal accident through doing something else while driving, phone, tv, eating, newspaper, whatever; it's a given that you'll do some time in the chokey. As for stealing anything else, everything is realtime monitored by an onboard GPS/GSM linked system, diesel, time, distance, driving hours, etc; & it's not often we haul anything worth going away for. |

I'm not an hourly employee. I get paid to do projects. If there's time between those projects, so-be-it. |

I own the company. If my employees got on the computer during the day they would be out. I had a guy working for me for a while, who, when on his cell phone, would make me wait for him to complete his call in order for me to discuss changes in the job he was working on. It happened twice. The first time I could not believe he would make me stand there with papers in hand while it went on. The second time.....not so much. I do frequent this spot during my work day. It usually has to do with waiting for return calls or between timed coats of paint, where nothing else can happen for a while. Sometimes during a lunch break too. Right now it is a lunch break and waiting for a phone call that I must resolve before leaving for a few hours to pick up another job. |

I work for/run an ISP. Surfing the internet would be testing the quality of the service we provide. For us, we are salaried, on call 24*7 and work all the frigging time. So if we slack off a bit at the office it doesn't matter I can see my boss posting on facebook so it all good... |

If I'm on the phone either cell or landline..it means I'm either talking to a customer, technician, or supplier...taking orders, placing orders or rendering help. If anyone barges into my office while I am on the phone and disrupts the conversation I will show them the door...including the Boss...and when I am done, I will crawl up their @ss for it...nothing is more rude than being so impatient as to do that...a properly handled call takes 2 minutes...nothing is so important that it can't wait a couple of minutes...especially if you are right in the middle of taking care of a customer. |
