OK... before you all tell me to search... I Did, clutch cover weeping but no bleed(er) valve, nipple, etc... I also tried to tighten it, I actually loosened it up and re-torqued it. Now, This just started today, clutch fluid is weeping pretty badly from the base of the bleed valve and eating away the paint. Anyone see this before. I am taking it in to be looked at tomorrow, but I just wanted to see if anyone is familiar with the issue. Also the black cover seems to be loose I can push it in about 1/8 of an inch, may be normal never checked. I'm just wondering what to expect at the dealer. I really don't want to be without my bike. Thanks, Ryan |

Hmmm, not the typical weep. Good to hear you did some research first, my "puck" doesn't move so your's is atypical. Later Neil S. |

i cant figure out if it has thread sealant or a chopper washer. but with either if u back it out then ud probably have to put thread sealant or new washer down. i wouldnt do that unless it started doin what urs is. any way good luck im having a hard time finding any good info in the service manual. |

There was no sealant that I could see or washer. Nothing in the service manual either. It is odd, I just hope it is something simple and not something that takes over a week to get parts. |

I had this same thing on mine. It started when I rode it home and lifts the paint on the cover. It has stopped for now but I still watch it every time I take the bike out. I will be interested in what the cause is and the fix. |

Sometimes when I bleed brakes I'll notice that the threads on the bleeder valve don't keep air from entering when using a Mityvac. So to fix that I'll remove the bleeder and wrap the threads with a little bit of teflon tape (the kind usually used for plumbing). That seems to seal it up very well. Maybe it would work for you too. |

Mine has white teflon on the threads. So it's not sealed. Next trip in the dealer I'll have them re-seal it and bleed the clutch. |

If you keep the TT on top of a can of Okra, it's OK. |

Well just got back from the dealer... Left rear signal replaced...(thats a whole other thread) and they will be replacing my clutch cover assembly to stop the leak. Can't figure out why it is doing it, but the fix is a new cover. I really never touched the Clutch bleeder valve, when I first notice the leak I did torque it to 44 in lbs per the manual. My guess would be the added heat of the summer months made a minor weep into a leak that could eat paint. |

My bleeder wept a couple times after getting it back from the dealer. I just rode it around until it got hot and then put another turn on it to tighten it. I had to do it again after about a day, but it finally stopped. Mike |

I wish mine was that simple I just couldn't get it to stop. I have read that if you over tighten bleeder valves it will cause them to leak due to stretching of the threads and the cone on the bottom can cause irregularities so no seal. So I was extra carefull not to exceed the specified torque value. (Message edited by dobieg2002 on June 24, 2009) |

I had the same thing happen when the dealer replaced the seals in the clutch slave cylinder on my 08. I took it back, they replaced the whole cover with the 09 version. That leaked at the bleeder valve after about 50 miles. It leaked up the center, not through the threads. I tighten it when the bike was hot - hasn't done it since. |
