Well this Friday my buddy and his boss are goin out to the drag strip and taking a 07 z06 vette to toy around with and asked if I wanna come. My friend will trailor my bike for me so I said why not. Iv raced cars before but never a bike. Any thing I should know? Or do? I'm kinda scared because of how small I am (weight) n gettin on it and doin a wheelie. This is just a fun night test nd tune. So its nothing. Serious. Thanks Chris |

start slow. just take a couple times as if ur timing a stop light, taking off fast. then slowly increase revs. feather the clutch on take off. shift at 9 every gear. u can speed shift 3-6 gear. but luckily for us we dont have cable clutches. and we only have to touch the lever to activate it. but theres some really good people on hear so they will tell u much more info |

What exactly do you mean feather the clutch? |

"Feather the clutch" Don't let it out all the way, keep light pressure on the handle to maintain a little bit of clutch slippage until you feel you are going fast enough that it's ok to let it out fully without lifting the front end too high (no more than three or four inches). Normally "feathering", about half way thru first and various amounts in second...maybe third gear. As JMR said...go SLOW leaving the line at first. Get used to trying to leave the line hard. It's "not" the same as being on the street. NOTHING worse than doing a giant wheelie and falling off the back or actually flipping over backward. I've seen people do both..! Thank God it wasn't me..!
