So I just did the much touted breather mod to my `07 XB12R. Took it for a couple of runs, on the freeway & in the city. Doesn`t seem to have completely cured the sputtering on pulling away in first. Anybody else failed to solve this issue? I thought it was one of the main benefits of the mod. |

I don't see how a breather mod (I am assuming you are referring to rerouting the head breather line) would have anything to do with bike's performance. All it does is prevent spooge to get into the intake tract. |

Right. Many out there tout the breather mod as a great "smoothing out" mod. But don't count on it. It's just good to let your engine breathe clean air and keep splooge out of the airbox, off the throttle body, etc. Better ways to smooth out the low speed riding are to be found hereabouts, including ECMSpy changes to fuel and/or timing maps. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to have done the mod, because as you say, it will now keep the airbox clean, and fresh air without CO2 has got be better for combustion. Plus I now have a really funky little breather filter on display, the exact same color as the cherry bomb wheels! Looks like it's a stock part, whereas it's the only suitable one I could fine, and I lucked out with the color! |
