i will be jumping on my bike in the morning with a couple of friends and riding about 200 miles from south louisiana to gulfport mississippi I-10 here i come i hope all the jap bikes can keep up.. | ||

i shure can gotta get there quick but once we are there and meet up with other bikes some of north mississippi's country roads are awesome full of hills and turns and well shaded in this heat | ||

thanks jdugger i always try and have a good time and enjoy myself i just meant hell i ride with import bikes and my friends dont understand the buell thing untill i blow past them on one wheel you know come to think of it my front tire is still like new | ||

well i wish i would have been on a jap bike since mine decided to start running hot about a hour into the trip got stuck in mississippi with a bike that the coolant pours out of when you stop. i now have 1900 miles and i have had the bike for about nine months and have had problems since day one with it i am not even comfortable leaving the drive way anymore. and a word of advice not any harley shop will touch a buell a number of them dont even like buell. i rode my bike back leaking coolant and running hot its sitting at the servie entrance door where its gonna stay i dont even want it back. | ||

Tone- we feel for you, brother. Most of us here have experienced what you're feeling right now. It's embarrassing, frustrating, maddening, and just plain pisses you off. It's hard to fight the insults when your bike lets you down. Although it seems that Buell has more problems than other manufacturers, I'll bet the real numbers don't support this. It will not be the last bike you have an issue with- no matter what you own. After my second Buell, I swore I would never own one again- that was two Buells ago. There's just something about them that you can't get anywhere else. Not everyone is willing to stick it out, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Hang in there. | ||

If you're pushing hard, the bike can leak coolant without cool down time before shutting down the engine... after some high-RPM riding, you need to do some low-RPM riding for a bit to let things cool off. This is not a problem, it's just the way a high performance motor needs to be managed, especially in hot weather. | ||

the bike shouldnt spit out all the coolant and if you call high rpm riding doing 75 mph for two hours i need a bike that can handle that | ||

Yeah, somethings wrong. Any motorcycle should be able to handle that. Sorry you have a suck ass dealer that doesn't appreciate the Buell line. That is a huge factor to which brand you buy. Good luck with whatever bike you purchase. | ||

yep thats odd. i did my first track day yesterday (saturday). it was about 85 degrees out all day, sunny, and had 20 minutes on the track with 40 minutes off. my bike's thermostat was open from 9am till about 5pm... my black bike soaked up the sunlight like a sponge. the track i was on is long but technical, i was in 2nd and 3rd the whole track, except the front straight where i saw 4th just long enough to wind it out, and scrub off speed to get ready for the first turn. nonetheless i was in higher RPMS all day. it ran perfectly. out of over 100 bikes that were there on saturday, it was my 1125 and a very modified X1 that had the whole representation for buell. .. and it was a hit, i had more compliments and people asking me questions about the bike than a knew what to do with! "how do you like it?" "words cant describe how badass this machine is. there isnt a thing about this bike i dont like..." ... well, ok, its got too much throttle response... and it got scary a couple times early in the day when i was still learning the track. i had to be careful, since it can easily overpower my riding skills.. and my nonexistant track skills. i was thinking for just a moment that id rather be on a more forgiving 600 import bike than mine. that feeling passed quickly. | ||

I've had coolant spill out at a track day... it was a hot (close to 100F outside) summer day here. Freaked me out at first. It has not repeated this since now I try to get the CT to below 200F before shutting down. That's why I'm saying this may not be a problem, it's happened to me, and it no longer does. You're right, just cruising in sixth gear at 75mph shouldn't be a problem. Maybe we can help you figure this out... do you know what your CT was when the coolant spilled? Did it spill when the engine was shut down or running? Was the oil level right? | ||

It happened in the paddock area, not on the track! Soon as I parked it... I was surrounded by people riding JAPanese motorcycles, who were nevertheless impressed with my mopping skills. | ||

I run the piss out of mine. I did two track days this weekend, and for the second time since owning the bike, the TEMP light came on! So, coolant at 230+. Some low speed riding got the bike back down to 215 and all was well. It was pushing 100 here in Texas... The bike handles heat well enough. The heat is throws on my right foot, though! Whooo hooo! I had some serious hot foot after about 20 minutes! | ||

guys, where is it spitting the coolant out at? when i disassembled my 1125r this spring to repair the frame and put it back together mine spit out a bunch of coolant on my test ride. it spit out from the left radiator upper radiator hose, one that i never even touched in the disassemble/reassemble process. to fix it, i twisted the clamp about a fifth of a turn and slid it back 1/8th of an inch. no problem since. | ||
