this winter i sold my fantastic race 88 xb.
this sale turned out to be a real pain and most of all i lost the opportunity of racing , my lap-times were more than enough to race the rod-air class ....you know the world economic crisis...
after that i bought a 04 1000 gixxer , before the first test on track i mounted a rear "bitubo" f41 shock and "bitubo" front fork internals(springs and valves), new tires and new pads and i said <i>...one of my "classic" 30 meters i've ridden outside the garage WITHOUT HELMET} and those are the results : broken nose and a lot of things on my face, on the next few weeks people did'nt recognized me.
i tested the "new for me" bike a couple of times in Misano and Magione....sincerely i still miss the xb...well "my" xb. not easy to control all this power.right now i finally found a good suspension and gearing setting . the g-pack and the "rapid bike" module are working fine in this closed loop only ecm( i learned a lot on tuning here thank you). but lap-times ,considering all this power, are not so good....
i hope to find some money to afford a used 1125 to enter the supertwins class in the future. good bye...i hope i can still write here even without a buell.

Allesio, there is the Yosh Box ,a Mak box, and the Teka 2 tuner from Factory Pro. All work on changing stock Suzuki ECM. And there is always a Power Commander.

Another vote for the Teka stuff from Factory Pro. Good folks there, Allesio. I think the '04 chassis isn't as forgiving as the '05 model. You might have to work on it a bit harder. But keep in touch with us here!

g-pack to eliminate 2nd 3rd gears and 300 kmh limiters and the "rapid-bike" module to adjust fuel and timing maps are more than enough and most of all power IS more than enough on this bike , better investing on practice and suspension/brakes settings. not sure but the new radial brake pump has broken my nose and latin profile when i tested the bike outside the garage the first time....i used the same force on the brakes i used millions times on the axial pump of my Buell.
after some practice i can say i like the rear setting(i uppered the rear) and the brakes even considering this damned pump but the feeling on the front end is un-comparable with my old Buell set-up...it seems like too much rigid maybe less compression clicks and less spring preload uppering it a little bit.a lot of testing in the future to see what an old beginner can do with this kind of jap tomb.
thank you guys for the inputs

I sent to you an email and I'm not sure if you received it.

The point is that I'm installing a long ss swingarm in my XB12s. I already have the swingarm, a long ss belt and an Ohlins shock. I saw that you did the same on a XB12r. My question is How long was needed for the rear shock. My estimation is 387mm long from hole to hole but I'm not really sure. And the kgr from the spring?

You said that you were racing karts and this may help in the track. The same happened to me first time I went with the motorbike to a track. It was easier and more thrilling than expected. When you race somewhere, you have track feeling and knowhow, the braking, grip limit, mass movements, gas control, sliding...

Thanks for your help.

IT DEPENDS the use you want to do. mine was adjustable from 400 to 415 mm but it was a track only bike. at 400 from hole to hole it is a little bit higher than stock (2 cm at the seat) on track i used 405 with a 130 kgs 150mm long spring on a WP ( 200 LBS my weight) this is pretty hard not the best for road use.
my personal idea is that higher is better and the long swingarm in the short frame is a lot better than stock . if your shock is adjustable try to be between 395 and 405 (personal consideration). hope this help. BUENA SUERTE

and my question is : this is circuit/road racing forum MAYBE not me on the wrong side...maybe.

Thanks a lot Alessio.

Maybe people should see how you prepared your ex xb12r to the maximum and moreover, it seems that you made it work greatly. Some people can not even make a new exahust work...

I send you another mail with new more questions. Changing the swingarm and shock, means a new geometry and balance that is not easy to find.

Post away Alessio! There are plenty of good Badwebbers not currently on a Buell.
