I am SERIOUSLY bummed. Back be damned, I should be there. The real bummer is that today, the back feels better than it has for over a month. |

Joe, there are a few people we missed and you were one of them. The bikes are great, the area is nice but it is the people that really make it great. Day 0 (Thursday): I arrived and thanks to a mix up in room keys I spotted Buffalobolt arriving after riding 1700 plus miles straight through. We had a nice chat and drinks when Jvv arrived with his nearly stock S2 ridden from CA. Friday everyone arrived. At the beginning of this thing I told Rex that if we get 6 S2s to show up I would be happy. We ended up with ten. As we were all eating dinner we spotted a red S2 heading into to town and getting gas across the street. I had no idea who it was so I borrowed J2Blues XB and headed over there and it was Eric and Jackie from Canada that road 2K plus miles to get here. Shane and Tim also put some serious miles on his bike. Sat was an adventure. We got Kim to lead us through this wonderful area at an easy pace. Although it was overcast the temp was perfect. I remember thinking while riding that this is turning out to be the perfect rally. I spoke too soon. The sky opened up on us and we did the last 100 miles in the rain and over two mountain passes. It was cold and wet. But what the hell. If that did not happen we would not have anything to talk about. Saturday night we had dinner and awards/raffles. Here is a run down Most mile traveled to the event was Eric (Sportyeric) Most mile on a S2 was Mike (Buffalobolt) Most original was Jack (Jvv) Most modified was Bart (Bartimus) Oldest S2 was Tim (Smoke) and the peoples choice was Jay (Buellerthanyou) We had one more award for someone than was unable to make it. I am looking forward to next year and meeting some new friends. What made this event for me was the people. (Message edited by f_skinner on June 21, 2009) |

Just getting to go on a ride with the "stragglers" that stayed an extra day.......I have been to a lot of Buell events, but this one was rather special.....great time was had by all. Here is a pic of the "official" S2 guys.but many others added greatly to the occasion. I will add some more to the smugmug link when I get back....(too many to post one at a time). http://dogphotos.smugmug.com/gallery/8621212_VBJws /1/568750792_bbRjp Ride safe, Jack (Message edited by jvv on June 21, 2009) (Message edited by jvv on June 21, 2009) (Message edited by jvv on June 21, 2009) |

Which S2 did Art take up there? I'm impressed if he beat out some of the others like Mr. Dunn near the end there for most modified S2. |

Hey Ross! I had to look at your profile to figure it out first, but then I remembered. My XB is temporarily jacked up and missing the rear wheel, but that is only 'til Tuesday. Yellow Buells Rule! |

The first S2 Gathering is history. I must say that I had a good time. We had 10 S2s a S3 a Uly a Blast a Concours and a Nightster. I would like to thank everyone who made this event a success. We had bikes from KS, CO, TX, AZ, CA, WA, LA, NY and BC Canada. 5 of the 10 S2s are still here! Jack, Mike and I had a good ride today with Jody as a tour guide. And yes we hit rain as soon as we hit the Buena Vista city limits. Nothing like Saturday. Special thanks to Kim and his lovely wife for escorting us and provided us with a storm we will all talk about for a while. Remember getting rained on riding over Hoosier Pass? Yes, what a challenge an adventure. No one went down and very little maintenance was required in the parking lot. Lynn and I made a lot of new friends and I think that the unique personalities of each person made this event a success. It will not be long before someone starts planning the next event and I ask that all of you provide that person with what you liked and did not like about this rally so it can be made better next year. BTW: Bart, I have no idea how we missed each other but if you took 291 to 285 that is where it happened. Thanks for the note and the flowers you left on the truck. LOL Tomorrow, Tim and I will track down a tire for his bike and he will start another journey. Each of you will have a unique experience and perspective and I look forward to hearing about it. I am not going to post any pictures since it is a PIA on this site but I will download mine to CD and if anyone wants them just send me yours. I was happy to be a part of this event. S2 riders are the best group of riders I have ever met I have have never met one I did not like. Before I forget I want to thank Jack for the generous gift. The trophy will be in the mail this week. For those of you that missed this event there will always be next year and I think Rex and I are looking for to being just attendees. This is not over for me until everyone arrives home safe and sound so please post when you arrive home. Eric and Jackie, safe travels my friends! (Message edited by f_skinner on June 22, 2009) |

Frank. Jack, everyone, great posts. The Buell people always make the event. This one felt like some of the old Buell Homecomings that we had in the past. It was cool. People standing around the bikes till late in the night, having a good time. I made it home last night around 7:30 pm. I left at 3:30 am..whew.....I only fell asleep about six times on the road...whoaaa. all safe though. I slept at a great overlook for about 30 minutes at the colorado/ new mexico border. watch out for elk it said. This was a great event, and I am glad everyone made it there safe, and everyone had a good time while we were there. Lots of great stories. The rain story will be talked about forever, I think. Another special thing. While we were having our dinner and meeting a fellow walked in off of the street. He lived there and owns an M2. He was walking the dogs with his wife, when he saw all of the S2's parked in front of the restaurant. He comes in like a school kid, wanting to know who owns all of these S2 bikes, and what are they doing in his town? ahahhahah. what a nice guy. Jack and I ran into him later, on main street. We talked and had a great chat with he and his wife. They moved there from the front range, and they love the place. He is a Bad Weather biker also,. He is going to post some notes, so we can talk more. He would like to make it to homecoming one of these days. Another Buell Friend to add to our group. Lynn and Frank did a great job and worked the entire time. Lynn, it was a joy to ride sweep with you and the gang. Bart. How funny is it, that we both live in Arizona, and to meet we have to go to Colorado. Nice to meet you and the family. Hopefully I will have some free time to ride more with the Arizona buellers. Good to meet the folks from Colorado, Canada, New York, Kansas, Texas, and Louisiana. I probably missed one sorry, but you guys were great. Especially you guys that ride two up. What a great thing that is. Another interesting little fact...ahahhahah. All S2's there except one, had corbin seats...ahahhahaha. Dan and wife. Thanks for helping to sponsor the event with your shirts, hats, and other items. Sorry we missed going to your shop. Thanks for bringing over the Buell Bicycle. Kim, Erik, and Buell. Thanks for your support. Court/ Dave. maybe in Texas. Now to get the other S2 together for next year. Riding to this one, now that I don't have to carry banners, and other items..ahahahhaa. REX |

Mr Smoke followed me home and we got him a new rear tire installed and a functional blinker. He got out of the Colorado Springs area around 11am and is most likely in Kansas by now. I think Jack stayed behind and is going to explore the area. Rex, I am glad you made it home safe and sound. I still need to unpack and download pics but I am just relaxing now.... BTW: I am with you Rex, next year we ride and let someone else haul all that crap around. Frank |

We should give them at least a week to start working on the event. Texas is a bigggggggggggg State. Look thru Jacks photos above. I am sure you will see him somewhere...rex |
