I keep expecting to see a murdered out 1125R. I'm surprised we haven't got one on the board yet.

i thought about it, might do it this next winter, not gonna have the bike down just to paint it, even tho its scorching down here in Tx, I was thinking matte black body work, polish the sides of the rims, basically everything but the center section where the spokes are, they would still be black

I think that would look good with the CR. It would give it the sinister look, like an ax murderer look

A good friend of mine and I built that in his shop about a month or two ago. I wasn't excited about the exhausts I saw that I could afford, and the ones I did like I couldn't afford. Did some research, some planning and voila. It's loud and I dont have any sound clips yet but my two buddies with Aprilia Tuono's say it sounds very similar to their bikes under load, just deeper and louder.

I've seen this bike & pipe up close & personal, the pipe is really neat, symmetrical with two outlets as I recall.

Question: when you wrapped the headers, did you just do the fat pipes, or did you wrap them where they split, too?

When I wrapped them I started at the merge at the heads. Not quite ALL the way to the head, about 1-2 inches down I would say. It reduced felt heat by my leg immediately and for some reason my exhaust almost sounded a little louder/deeper after. No idea why/how just an observation by myself and people I ride with.

Also, got the PM and will answer it later tonight.

I was planning on it, but will wait until the season is over... Actually might change the color for next season, not sure yet though.

Bike looks great. So now I have to ask a dumb question. Whats the process to spray the panels?

Sand down to put a key on for the paint to stick to?
primer?
what type of paint?
is the matt finish easy to keep clean?

If I were to start with the side pods I take it I need to remove the front part. Is this easy to remove?

As for the fairing, I take it that it should come off the bike again. Did you mask up the 1125r graphic or use a new one?

Plumpton: A friend of mine just painted my plastics silver for me. He said it was difficult to paint because the plastics are so "rubbery". He ended up using a lot of flex agent in the paint, and he had to put on 2 coats of primer for the paint to stick right. Obviously you need to sand down the bodywork, or at minimum give it a rough surface for the paint to stick to. I would reccomend taking off all the stickers and getting a new decal set, since the stickers are clear in some parts the old paint will show through the old decals.

As far as taking the bodywork off, ive neve owned a bike that came apart so easy. Theres like 5 bolts in each radiator pod, 2 bolts and the mirror bolts in the front fairing, 5 bolts in the tail, and 4 bolts on the airbox cover. Its cake. I pulled all my plastics off in about 5 minutes.

Mine were actually very easy AND spray bombed from a can. Prep well sanding it down first with 400 grit then 800 grit then the highest you can find grit... i did 4 coats of primer and wet sanded the primer. After wet-sanding i did one more light coat of primer. Then 8 coats of satin black wet-sanding between 4-5 coat and after the 8th coat. Then the final touch is 6 coats of matte clear wet sanding between the 4-5 coats again. Biggest thing about my paint job was patience and PREP. The flames were done free hand and are 2 coats of blue before the clear.
