Decided it was time for the ole gal to get some upgrades. Had a buddy of mine that owns a paint shop give me a nice shot of paint, threw the D&D in the trash and ordered a Jardine, got a new set of Corsa IIIs that are ready for an Arkansas trip this weekend, and gave her the works in the PM department: New oil, air filter, brake and clutch fluid, flushed the radiators, new battery, etc. I love the color that I picked *pat myself on the back* it goes great with the blue frame. Heres some pics!

Thanks a lot guys! I had contemplated throwin the D&D on here for real cheap but it was a POS. The bracket that goes to the oil cooler mount broke off, one of the bolts that holds the tip on broke off when I put a baffle in it, and the whole pipe got really discolored and looked horrible.....I figured no one would want it so the trash man came and took it....he'll take anything! |

Very nice color combo. Infact, just about the nicest looking 08 I have ever seen. Just thinking.............. Maybe do the rims in sliver, leave the spokes midnight blue. I still think these bikes could use a chin spoiler and redesigned pods. but that's just me. |

Thanks a lot Jon. I had contemplated maybe takin the wheels off this winter and polishing the lip, but I dont know how easy that powder coat would come off even with airplane stripper....ill have to do some research. |

Doh! I would have definitely taken the pipe. Oh well, hopefully the trash man enjoys it! The bike does look great. I like it just the way it is. Maybe Photoshop it up with the painted spokes. ac |

No biggie about the pipe. I have been thinking about starting to tinker with something and that would have made a nice starting point. Either way, I really like the silver. It really sets off the blue frame. ac |

Please tell me more about the baffle you used in your D&D....I'm contemplating "mellowing down" mine at least a bit. I assumed people were exaggerating a bit, but it turns out my D&D (off a Canadian Superbike) is without a doubt the LOUDEST pipe I have EVER heard. And yes, I have heard a shiteload of bikes thru the years, but this scoot o' mine makes a straight piped Big Twin sound quiet. Thanks for any pointers. Pauly K |

The baffle was something that I just kind of make-shifted. A friend of mine had a stock can from an 05 R6 that he told me I could tear apart. So I did. Ripped it apart and took the main baffle out of it. It was just a round honeycomb looking baffle. I took the tip off my pipe, wrapped the baffle in exhaust packing and stuck it in there where it was tight. To be honest, it didnt make any difference at all. It may have got a little quieter but it got more "gurgly" which was annoying. Also after a while the exhaust packing broke down (like it always does) and the baffle ended up just bouncing around inside the pipe. I thought about tack welding it farther down into the pipe but the metal on the pipe is so thing youd probably see the tack welds on the outside. I did a lot of playing around with the D&D, and in the end I just came to the same conclusion as always.....buy something else LOL. Nothing youre gonna do is gonna make that pipe sound better or quieter. (Message edited by mr_incognito on June 17, 2009) |

Steven(Mr_incognito), thats one fine looking 1125. Equally as nice or nicer as our stock black ones. My sons SV1000 is a silver gray also and is a great color as is yours. Nice job bud. And for Paul k(Bott), check out these two different inserts,(below) for reducing noise and maintaining H.P. and torque. I have used both, made by me, and they really do work. A little difficult to make but the stockers are usually made for a bigger diameter pipe and why I made my own. I currently have one in my own 1125 muffler "system" pictured in other threads. I do believe you can quiet down any system and maintain performance, especially on the street. Check out "www.carchemistry.com", look for inserts, and "www.afabcorp.com" and go to their Dynatech muffler systems and then "inserts" Bob |
