on my my way into work this morning a cop was in behind me(unmarked and did not know it at the time) when move into a 45 zone through town with 5 lanes 2 n bound 2 s bound and a turn lane. As I am paasing by the tractor trailer on the inside lane with the turn lane next to me the truck driver starts to pull over into me pushed all the way into the turn lane. Once he saw me as I laid on the horn he moved back over a few more blocks is where I turn for work, as the tractor trailer goes by the unknow cop car behind us pulled the lights on him and pulled him over. Happy ending all around | ||

There is justice in this world. The LEOs I pass everyday have finally started waving back all the time. I want to make sure they know I'm here. I was asked by one LEO why I wave at him? I responded that I wanted him to know that I appreciate him being around to try and keep me safe. He smiled and we talked motorcycles for the next 30 mins (he rides a 'Busa!). Time2Work Neil S. | ||

I ride with a LEO on a frequent basis. And I never get lectured on my riding pace which is well over the limit once we are out in the country. I just wish more LEO's would write up cagers who dont pay attention (i.e. texting while driving). | ||

I have a mobile phone jammer which has a radius of about 100 feet, stops the cagers from txting when I am about - really cool bit of kit, no bigger than a pack of cigs and cost me £80 sterling imported to the UK from India - ride safe | ||

John: That almost sounds like a good idea. Here in the USA we can't even keep our inmates off the cell phones much less our drivers. One prison wanted to jam the cell phones but the FCC (Federal Communications Commission ) does not allow that. Time2Work Neil S. | ||

In the US, the frequencies used for mobile phones are licensed by the FCC, and the private companies using them paid big, big, big money to do so. Using any device not specifically licensed to transmit on those frequencies is a big no-no. | ||

Hey John.. Just a heads up.. if you ever come over the pond and visit us, leave that device at home... Such a devise falls under Title III of the Ominbus Crime Control / Safe Streets act of 1968 and is a Federal Felony to POSSESS without express written permission of the Justice Department, minimum sentence (per offense/device etc.) is 5 years in prison with additional time IF the device were TURNED ON. I used to work for a small firm that made such devices for select clients and had to know the regs to possess, transport etc. such items.. They are considered, by the law, the same as wiretapping and room bugging devices.. Although when I worked there, we did have a little fun with the 'test/train' phase of the operation...  | ||

I don't think they are purposely trying to harm me specifically, I think they are just stupid and consider tossing a lit cigarette out of the car window acceptable behavior. | ||

Potential problem with the jammer, assuming its hardwired to the bike: You're riding alone, best case - breakdown, worst case - crash. Separated from the bike, can't get to it to turn off jammer. Now you're cell doesn't work to call for help.... | ||

+10 on the lit cigs!!! A few years ago I had one tossed out and it landed right b/t me and the tank. We were rolling to a stoplight. I picked it up out of my crotch and rolled up to the cager and flicked it BACK into his window. Just like the "Keystone Cops" doing a fire drill, he jumped out of his cage soooo quick! I at least had my wits about me and headed off before he got his composure back enough to get pissed. Ah, those were the days when everyone (it seemed) smoked and could not find their ashtrays.
