I mean this quite literally : it stinks! Any time it's running, the exhaust smells horrible... kind of a sour, putrid fuel smell. It's been like this for a long time, long enough that I can't remember if it's "normal" or not. I always assumed it was because the bike was cold, but often I get the same smell if I sit and idle after a ride. Normally I would suspect it was flooding or something, but according to ECMSpy, my AFR is actually compensating for a slight lean condition (105, which I attribute to the seriously warm weather we're having). What else, aside from running rich, could cause a bike to reek? Maybe my crank case hose reroute, which simply vents to a filter? ~SM |

SM, crankcase fumes stink. If you had a catch can, you would know from draining that that is the smell. Put your nose up to your filter. I bet that's it. BL |

Ah, well, maybe that's it then. My wife HATES it when I fire the bike up in the garage and let it warm up before I leave. ~SM |

Yeah... it's a kinda normal smell. After we've been closed in the dyno room for a couple hours, we all stink so bad that we are not allowed anywhere near "normal" people without taking a shower first. |

Maybe THAT's the reason that Mom would always give me a shower with the garden hose before letting me back in the house. Something about fertilizing the lawn? |

Try a different brand of gas (I prefer the expensive name brands). It is normal to have that aromatic sulpher stink - it's typically worse on a cold engine / exhaust... Try sniffing it after you come back from a hard ride and see if it's better. |
