Much difference in the stock X1 N4 and the SE 536? I looked at the profiles and they don't seem to be much different (from my limited knowledge). Everyone here seems to going with the .536 but NRHS says do the N4. |

I think the .536 give a little extra top end power and IIRC, they don't sacrifice much if any bottom end. I want to try M2 cams when I get started on my S3 rebuild project. I try to never ride over 5k rpm so don't need a cam designed for the top end. |

Thanks Phil, I like low-mid range myself. I just thought since I was gonna be that far in might as well change the cams if it would give me much benefit. |

PK - I've got a set of stock M2 cams with about 5K miles on them. Let me know if you are interested in them. (Sorry about the thread hijack) Kilroy |

i was told that the N4 cams are the biggest you can go without doing any other mods ie.... valve springs and stuff to the heads or changing out the pistons. is this true? |

I was told, this might not be true, that the 536 was a drop in cam. |

They are very different, The .536 cams are much more lobe-e and aggressive and idle more like a race engine would run. The reason for the cam suggestion is you will have to tune the bike on a dyno. (IT WILL MESS WITH THE FI) If you stay with a lower cam selection you don't have to tune it. Just flash the race map into the factory ECM. |

Keith - To clarify NRHS recommended the N4 along with the 1250 kit and stage 2 light porting. As preybird says the .536 cam takes dyno tuning and the full stage 2 porting requires rocker box modification. I think NRHS gave me a recommendation that balances cost/performance and hassle. No decent tuners anywhere close to me that I know of. |

The valve train has smaller valves 7mm stainless with max head size on them and single beehive xb springs so there was no need for rocker box clearance work. This is only on valves .550 lift and below. the top of the motor is totally built, stage 2 pistons the works. It is currently in california @ JTS performance for the tuning and mapping. I am hoping for no more than 2 weeks to have it back. |
