my bike died while i was riding it. felt like it ran outta gas.

i tried to restrt it and i get nothing-
no starter click, no noise, nothing.

oh, headlights work, horn, tach/speedo....no power to the starter AND it put-put died while in motion?

any ideas?

There are 3 relays in the relay center and fuses for the electrical functions. Check the fuses and try pulling the relays out and swapping positions to see if the symptoms change. If it can start, then I'd replace the relays.

You can get these at your friendly HD/Buell dealer or, as they are fairly generic parts, can also be found in auto parts stores.

The usual suspects are also the side stand and clutch safety switches. Check them one at a time by shorting them out. Paper clip works just fine.

its the ignition fuse that keeps blowing

ive searched a bunch of wires and can not find any that are bare....

ahhhhh electrical- frustrating!!!!

I had a problem like that with my 03 XB9R, I was riding one day like you and my bike went completely dead. While I was checking it out on the road I noticed that the ignition fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse, turned on the ignition and hit the starter button and the fuse blew again. Anyway it was the speed sensor that was causing the problem, when disconnected everything would work normally except the speedo. I bought a new speed sensor and all was good again.
