SM says to drain the fuel tank and discard the Drain Plug. Anyone had any issues reusing the old one? |

Reinstalled mine yesterday, no issue. Seemed funny to me to toss it, but what do I know? 23 miles and no problem yet.

I would see how much a new one costs. I put a price on peace of mind sometimes. It may just be me, but if it is less than 10 bucks? |

A follow up question... is it safe to assume you can remove the fuel pump without removing the swingarm as the SM says to do? |

Never mind.. found a thread that says you really only need to remove the lower shock bolt and raise the bike a bit....that will get the clearance to pull the pump. for reference http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/287082.html |

I reused the drain plug, but had to replace the o-ring as it rolled a chunk out of it when the plug was removed. I used the larger of the 2 banjo fitting o-rings for the discharge fuel line. These appear to be fuel resistant viton o-rings. |

I replaced the O-rings on the pump assembly and the banjo fitting. I reused the drain plug and its o-ring as it did not appear to be damaged. Rode to work this morning... so far so good. |

Nope, no need to remove the swingarm. Here's a step-by-step with pictures: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442427.html I reused the drain plug and o-rings as well. |

Removed the fuel pump on my first '06 Uly (made a little puller...probably overkill) but on someone's advice I used new O-rings. The "someone" had fuel leakage w/old O-rings. With a long trip coming up I want to check the fuel pump on my second '06 Uly (1st one totaled in deer strike) but the O-rings aren't in yet. Dilemma. I may not pull the pump w/o new O-rings. Glad yours is not leaking. --Doc |

Is their some sort of wire upgrade kit everyone is using? Or are you guys just using heat shrink tubing?? I need to do this soon. |

Or are you guys just using heat shrink tubing?? Heat shrink tubing. If you're worried about heating up the unit with a heat gun or match or whatever, a halogen work light does the trick pretty well with less of a risk of burning down the shop. I also zip-tied the wires together around the tubing at the ends--just seemed like the right thing to do at the time. |
