I recently picked up an 09 XB12SS and was surprised to find I only got at best 40MPG on boring highway. I hit the curves and quickly drop into the 30s. I hear there are differences between 07s and 08s and later. Anyone know what they are so I can get better MPGs? I also heard the ECM spy won't work with the 09. Any advice on TPS resets on the newer models? |

You will get better mpg as it runs in. Also better economy above 3500 in top gear. |

To do a TPS reset on 08 and 09 bikes 1. Switch the Run/Stop switch to the Run position. 2. Turn ignition key on. 3. With the engine off, rotate the throttle grip from the closed throttle position to the wide open throttle position and back to closed position slowly 3 times holding the throttle grip against each stop for one full second. 4. Cycle the key off and back on. |

My '08TT started to get better in the 3-4k range. FWIW, last Sunday did about 100 miles, mostly in 4th, about 10 miles in 3rd (teaching a novice rider about pace, and looking through corners)and averaged 44.9 mpg. When cruising on the open hwy, at 60-65ish, I get to 50 mpg or better. Hope this helps, Dave |
