It would be sweet to have a 1000cr buell that could compete with the world superbike racing. Put the aprilla rsv4 180HP motor in an 1125cr frame, now that would be a Blast! |

The RS V-4 engine cost $25 million dollars to develop. It's actually going to be my next bike if they release a standard version. |

Remember, Buell didn't take a motor off the shelf at Rotax. The helicon was built by Rotax to buells' specifications. If that's what Buell wanted and had the money, Rotax coulda made them one. |

The RSV4 engine was developed in-house by Aprilia - it is not a rotax ... |

Clarkjw: they do have a standard avail this sept. for right at $20K. the Factory will be more money and have Ohlins rather then Sachs suspension among other upgrades. dont hold your breath for the v4 in the buell. the rsv4 was developed in house by aprilla |

I think the point was that if Buell wanted a V4m they would have had Rotax build one. Not that Rotax built Aprilia's V4. |

Wasn't Eriks original race bike a square four two stroke. I'll bet a four of some kind always been in the back of his mind for racing but he has built a sportbike for the street(with great success) to make money and prosper so he can eventually do what he was meant to do. RACE. Maybe some day with enough prosperity to invest the big money in a competitive bike for World class racing. |

That bike is pure SEX!! We were there for the unveiling and they would start it up every time they got a crowd....sounds like an F1 motor with fewer cylinders...(like a half of a 2.4 litre V8).....I took alot of shots of it but missed a shot with the passenger seat on. You could put that seat in your back pocket!I have allways liked the Star Trek designs on their tailpiece....if anyones interested I will post up pics of the bike as presented to the public......... |

Well, BMW finally gave in and made a "conventional" bike to compete on the track. I'd love to see Buell take the best of their innovations and pair it with proven, race winning technologies, to produce a true race replica bike. I think Erik has the heart of a racer, and he knows what wins on Sunday sells on Monday. Nevermind that it's typically a horrible street bike, the squids and poseurs will buy it which will generate revenue to invest in the street bikes we all love. |

Chad: Sorry to burst your bubble and spoil your dreams but, for Buell there is not enough ROI for a dedicated repli-racer for a "small" company. Heck, we can't even get a "Sport Touring" model based on existing XB or 1125 platforms much less a racer. Later Neil S. |

There's a reason there are so few companies with race capable bikes. It ain't cause they can't build 'em. It's because what sells and is comfortable doesn't make the best racer. How many GSXR buyers are REALLY willing to step across the street to buy a BMW, Buell, or Ducati? Add the price increase that these three would demand, and I'd bet virtually none. |

I would buy a Buell race-replica. That makes one. |

Hmn.... interesting, may not see repli-racers from the factory, but an enterprising guy..... Have to keep the stock exhaust, etc. so epa will not swoop down. Maybe a full fairing, great race graphics, decals, steering dampner, race style foot-pegs, controls, few other cosmetic changes...might be fun! (Message edited by teach on June 10, 2009) |

Trying to get pictures: Right now here is what I have: Full fairing from Grandstand Designs. It is painted vivid black with some decals. Steering damper from Adrenalin Moto. Evo-tech license plate bracket. Spiegler clutch and brake levers. I think with a wild race type paint job it would be awesome. So, we need to buy all of these really discounted 1125's, spend 4 grand and make them into a true rep racer! |

I love it! To rich for my blood but I would love to have one. MV Agusta would come first for the price of that thing though. I like the old RSV1000's too but I think that their over priced. I talked to a guy about a used RSV1000 but he wanted to much for it. He wanted about the same price as a new 1125R. I would of much rather buy a 1125R for close to the same price as a used Aprila. |
