About ACH (Angeles Crest Highway) reopening... it was on Nightline late last night... no Buell in the video though... ABC News The footage with the blue speedo is my old FZ6 with the KOSO speedo... the crash was me on Ojai.... then you can see a friend of mine on his R1 in front of me and behind me as well... another friend on his monster also appears a couple of times riding in front of me (Message edited by wavex on June 09, 2009) |

All I can say is wow! Beautiful road. Looks kind of like a cool community of riders, with some crazies thrown in for good measure. The over the double yellow stuff...and faith in blind corners> not for me! Amazing the ABC presentation was without the ambulance murder death kill typical of these shows. Ride safe |

Nice...I enjoy the rides that are available for us here in southern California. |

Wavex: Why did you ride off the road? Did I hear it correctly? 30 deaths since 1988? Not bad considering how many bikes have gone up and down that road in 21 years. |

Scottsts: Full video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi6tc-9UF9w The last 15-20 seconds are the crash... We were ripping through the canyon going up in the morning, had lunch up there and then came back down (R1 behind me)... a few miles before the end I stop and let my friend take the lead again, after that we were just cruising along (as in no aggressive riding anymore), and that's when I let my concentration down... I looked down at the camera thinking I had more time till the next turn only to look up and discover I had much less room than I thought... instead of diving for the turn (easy turn too), I paniqued and downshifted trying to reduce my speed, but it unsettled the rear and by that time I was in the dirt... after that all I was thinking about is "don't lock the brakes and try to make it back on the road, don't lock the damn brakes and try to aaarrrghhhhh BAM!!!"... the cliff a few feet to the right is about 500 feet deep, and very steep too... I landed 3 feet to the left of it, basically on the edge of it, and the bike landed on soft dirt and came out with only the headlight toast... I rode the bike home 15min after the crash!!!
