King_of_kali: The SPORTSTER Drive Belt PN 400022-91 is 128 Tooth and will work on all TUBE FRAME BUELLs ... Early on the HARLEY-DAVIDSON Parts Persons would say SPORTSTER Parts would not RETRO FIT to TUBE FRAME BUELLs ... When my OEM Drive Belt broke, "i" deliberately put on a SPORTSTER Drive Belt so that everyone one could see the SPORTSTER name on my Drive Belt ... MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!! |

I still have the original belt on my 00M2 ,50k and I think from the factory they used an HD belt because their is a orange bar and shield on the flat (top) part of the belt. Don't know for certain though??? |

BUELLers: No matter what Drive Belt you install, it is only as good as set up(proper adjustment) of the Drive Belt ... This also determines the LIFE EXPECTANCY of the Drive Belt(how long it lasts) ... MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!! |

Just ask for the "updated" belt for the X1. If you ask for the Sportster belt, you will get the Sportster belt not the improved. My bike also came with the belt that had Sportster written on it and the new one I got (the XB belt) is a lot better made. A lot better. I believe it is called the G-series belt. |

For your bike King_of_kali it should be pretty straight forward, your [X1] frame has a removable side plate that facilitates much easier belt changes than the other tubers (except S2's). |

BUELLers: When you'll talk about TUBE FRAME Drive Belt UP-DATES(later better RETRO FIT Belts),how about adding the Drive Belt "PART NUMBER" ... MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!! |

Get an XB belt, adjust it right, and enjoy the wheelies! LOL. I broke my stock belt doing wheelies 200 miles from home. Luckily I have an awesome dad, who took the belt off my parted out Sportster and drove it down to me. I changed it in Weatherford, OK, and headed off that afternoon home to Amarillo. My next belt will be an XB belt. |

Don't you have to change the pulleys to use the XB belt? Isn't it a different size/tooth pitch? |

I ordered P/N G0500.8 when I placed a huge order of new parts to replace on this build. Haven't installed it yet though. |

Hootowl, I think the '03 belt was different, but the '04-up is not. |

Ah, so 04 and up it is the same (albeit improved) belt as the tubers? |

Yes. The XB gearing is different, but the tooth count is the same. |
