OK, so I'm going to Sturgis with some buddies this year. It will be about an 1800 mile trip each way. We were going to take a truck and trailer along for insurance but now we're leaning toward no doing that so that means we will be able to take a lot less "stuff". One of our group has been there multiple times and says the weather is variable and unpredictable, can be cold or hot or both, but it will definitely rain. So, I want to get a good jacket that is suitable for any weather condition I might meet. I have a rain suit so rain protection isn't absolutely required but it would be nice. Body armor is required but the jacket should be able to be rolled up and bungied to the bike in case I get stupid. Any suggestions? Money is an object since I just shelled out to buy a Road King for the trip. Thanks. |

I really like my Buell Adventure suit. Armor and it has the zip out vent panels for warmer weather |

I just bought the Buell Mesh jacket, and pretty happy with it so far. 2 rides with the waterproof/insulated liner in(no rain just 50deg days) and several 80-90deg clear days. My multi weather trip plan is: t-shirts- long or short sleeve depending on how warm its expected to be when off bike Gerbing heated jacket as an insulation layer First Gear rain jacket over the mesh jacket for a wind block or rain block. Ill leave the liner that came with the jacket at home. The lower body gets a similar setup with First Gear Mesh Tek 2.0 perf pants, thermal long underwear if some insulation is needed add the rain pants for rain or wind protection. I don't like to ride in jeans or pack them since they take up alot of room, so its usually hiking pants w/zip off legs. |

I have both the Buell Mesh and the Adventure jacket. I'm very happy with both, especially the versatility of the Adventure jacket. With the removable panels and vents,it sees the majority of use until the weather gets over 90 degrees. FYI: The HD FXRG back armor 98072-07VR fits PERFECTLY into the rear armor pocket on my Adventure jacket, in case you want some extra protection. It won't allow the jacket to be "rolled up and bungied to the bike", but otherwise it provides a bit more back protection. |

What is sizing like on it? I'm 6'3" and long in the trunk. The mesh jacket I have now is a little short for me although it fits in every other way. |

I wear large mesh and Adventure jackets and the length is the same for both. They both zip into my Adventure pants, also size large. FYI: I usually wear an XL jacket and am 5'9", 195 lbs and 34 waist and inseam. I wouldn't say either jacket is long, but they fit me well. "Adventure pants"...that just doesn't sound right!! |

Folks seem to like this gear, too: http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/adventure-jac ket.asp One of the few good options out there to color coordinate w/ orange/gray. (Message edited by fahren on June 08, 2009) |
