FYI... Lakeshore Harley in Libertyville, Illinois is blowing out their 2008 1125R's for $6999. They still have about 5 left. In addition, they have one red 2009 1125CR for $6999 also. I couldn't believe it when I stopped in there today. That price is ridiculous. | ||

Buell needs to write price limits into the contract with each bike sold to dealers. These dealers blowing bikes out for a song are destroying the integrity of the brand. If this is true, then I vow never to buy a brand new Buell again, and I have already bought two by the age of 26. | ||

That would be called price fixing, sort of, that is against the law. Once a dealer buys the bike it their business what to sell if for. Puredrive - I had mine shipped from FLA to Austin for $500. If you want one BUY it! That is a bargain. | ||

Dealers who "dump" bikes on the market won't be dealers for very long. At $6,999, they are below what it cost the dealer. They would have to sell enough Buells to cover the dead money of the loss. That's a lot of Buells. There will always be "low cost" dealers. The question is whether or not you value the relationship with the dealer. That relationship is reflected in future purchase prices, service charges and goodwill, and discounts. | ||

By buying the discounted ones, we satisfy our own needs at the cost of good dealers. Hopefully, we won't see a domino effect where dealers exit the market, dump bikes, siphon off sales from other dealers, create excess stock, causing these dealer to dump stock, and the cycle continues. I love a good deal, but not at the cost of the future of the brand. | ||

There is a difference in "discounting" and "dumping". One demonstrates a dealership with a future. The other does not. Now Bumpus HD has an 08 or two on the floor. I suspect that when the 2010's come out, there will be more discounting off the price. I doubt, though, that they will discount to $7,000 dollars. Also keep in mind that many dealers are charging $400 for set-up and $600 for doc fees on top of the TT&L. What you walk out the door with isn't always the price you came in for. | ||

At $6,999, they are below what it cost the dealer. That depends on how much they are charging for "freight/setup". Maybe this is a sucker deal? | ||

I've bought a few bikes from them, and their freight is $255 and their prep is $500. I specifically asked about the extra charges. This dealer has never been too fond of Buells. In fact, they only ordered one 2009 Buell and they are discounting that one also. I posted the price because I thought it would make a great track bike. Instead of buying a used CBR600 for $6000, you could get a new 1125R for a little more. (Message edited by mario1125 on June 07, 2009) | ||

Personally as much as I hate to see this deep discounting happen I say if you want one and their actual walk out the door price is 7k you better buy that bike period. Personally I wouldn't sell my used 08 for that. | ||

Sounds like they will be pulling their Buell dealership sign down soon. One 2009? Why bother? They don't make enough off the sale of a bike to pay for the tech education. | ||

This is a good deal for someone just buying an 1125, but for us guys that payed 12k when they first came out, it makes our heads want to implode.....makes me sick to my stomach that ive been paying like crazy on mine for a year and just barely have it down to what youd pay for a brand new one. | ||

I dont know, but someone above mentioned that they would like a good deal on them in TX....I was just in Dallas and Dallas HD had left over 08s for 8k I think. | ||

Dealer show is in July. Bikes are on the trucks while they ate at the show arriving starting the week after they get back. | ||

2010 models shouldn't hit the floors until late this year. 2010 domestic Loki Platform machines will not go into production until after September according to BMC. (Message edited by bikejunky on June 07, 2009) | ||

so how difficult is getting another dealer motivated to do professional warranty work on a bike they did not sell you? I'm sensing that Lakeshore isn't exactly "into" buells like a Hal's is... |
