I being a mechanic want to know what is being done to my bike. I think we all deserve a deeper answer than "it smoothes the mid-range." That's generic. This guessing stuff is how internet rumors start. A little information would placate owners and head off confusion/frustration at the pass. Why not? |

seems like most of the PC programs that I use (Windows included) have released updates and have some sort of a text file that tells you what issues were corrected and even some that include what new features have been added I would think that the issues that we the consumer have reported and then fixed by BMC, should be openly reported back as fixed...rather than all the guessing that has been taking place... issue "X"...resolved in flash 123 just my humble opinion and 1/2 cent piece bob |

Well, I took my bike in to get the 3000 mile clutch sleeve/seal (determined mine needed to be replaced about every 3000 miles). I asked them to do the 05Z flash and the took care of it. They did not find it in HD Net, but thanks to this board, I was able to inform them that it was in the DTII and hey hooked it right up. +1 HD of Nassau County in Bellmore, NY. Kenny (the Buell tech) always comes through for me. Thanks Badweb and Badwebbers for all of the awesome and accurate information!! Mike |

Picked up the bike today with the 05Z flash and it runs awesome. I am not sure what it changed, but it seems to be running better. It seems to have a more crisp feel, but maybe that is just a result of resetting the afvs and such. The low range rpm also seems to be smoother. Mike |

Anyone know when this 05Z flash was made available? I just took my bike in to get the flash and they said that i already had the flash. The last time i had it in the shop was MArch 19th. Could they have flashed it way back then? |

Sometimes being totally ignorant makes you look a whole lot smarter than knowing a good amount about something. My bike had the 03Z flash and my dealer has been fighting a while with the DT to load up the 05Z flash like I asked for. Finally found out the US05Z flash is not compatible with my VIN! Oh, that's right, we're in California. I should have known better. Dealer and I both red faced over this one. Somewhere along the line the CA05Z was successfully loaded. Well at least I get to pick up my bike tomorrow when the service department is normally closed. |

September 08 was 03Z...I'm almost positive 05Z was not out then. (Message edited by ponti1 on June 07, 2009) |

I apologies you are correct. Went back and looked at my paper work and it was 03Z. All these flash threads are staring to run together for me. Oh well I guess I am happy with my 03Z_AS_Mod Calibration. |

I got 05Z mid-Feb - that was the first I heard of it. "Posted on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - 11:23 pm: I was told, didn't see the printout, that it ended in 05Z. When I rolled it in to Service we talked about the calibration number. All I could remember were the last didgits being 03Z, looking for 04Z. Z" Zack |
