Is there any logic to avoiding a 2008 1125r on discount over a more expensive 2009? I assume that all of the "tweaks" made to the '09s would be performed pre delivery of a '08.... right? |

You are better off "insisting" all the upgrades are done than "assuming." All it really boils down to is do you like the blue frame or the black one. |

Do your research here, make a list of potential areas have dealer sign that u have he latest flash/signals/clutch cover etc. Offer $8,000 plus taxes. If they insist on fees have them throw in a 5 year warranty. FREE A loaner bike looks to be valuble for some 08 customers. $8,000 is near cost but unless they want to park 2010's next to he 08's a smart dealer will move it. |

Defiantly shop around, but remember that there will be a point where the research becomes a significant factor. Also, remember that state to state can vary quite a bit and just because a bike is a grand+ less 1 state away that "deal" goes out the window when you factor is shipping/driving, time and potential hassle. Try and get a "local" dealer to match a good price from another dealer that is believable and attainable... |

Don't assume anything. I Just bought an 08 that had none of the upgrades done and it ran like crap! But thanks to the knowledgeable folks on this site, I was fully informed when I took it back. Except for the trans oil jet recall, all the fixes are now done and the bike runs great. This dealer sponsors a 1125 race team, so I thought they would be on top of things. NOT! |

The 08 with fixes is a great bike. A lot of the 'niggle' issues are fixed now, and you can expect to have them *once* (blinkers, kickstand spring, mirros, clutch leak, etc.) but then it will be solved under warranty. Sure, the frame gets really warm, and they put heat shields in the 09s, and sure, the injectors are a little better in 09, but let me tell you, the 08 is a very rideable bike, in particular now that the maps are updated. And, most of the issue was at low RPMs, anyway, so just twist the throttle and you will never know! When it came time for me to buy my second 1125r, I bought another 08, and I'm happy with that decision. If you live close to a dealer that you trust, to me it's a no-brainer because of how much cheaper the 08s are. |

I said that poorly, please replace cost with Market value. I have worked in dealerships and if your owner has packs for this and that etc I understand. In particular if you adding floorpan to the individual unit. At one time we charged each new unit at arrival $200.00 that was used to write down the aged inventory. deals for $8,499 - $8,999 seem easy to find. |

Yep 8 to 9 thousand is a killer deal on the 08 1125R. You are paying less than the dealer did for the bike. GO BUY IT, PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK, AND GO RIDE THAT BAD MOTOR SCOOTER!!!!!!!!!

here is a quoteJaab4 Posted on Wednesday, June 03, 2009 - 05:10 pm: If I treated my customers to deals like this I would be run out of Ohio on a rail.(by the way it is illegal in Ohio to charge over $250.00 in doc fees.) Spent $2000 in advertising to sell my 2008 models for $8495.00 TOTAL.(took 3 months to sell 5) Sure wish I would run into more guys like you that even know they are getting taken but still do the deal. We are running full page ads in the cycle trader and cant seem to get a phone call even. Must just be the different parts of the country. Good luck with your 1125R you Will enjoy it. You guys are nuts for not buying this bike at nearly 1/3 off MSRP. You are worried about nothing. The sick ones are anomalies that get amplified on this forum. There are hundreds of perfectly running 1125rs for each of the sick ones. You aren't getting any younger, so just do it and enjoy the hell out of it. |

I know what they cost. Dealers are selling them thousands under what their cost is. Please check my profile, I know what I am talking about. p.s. We don't make the profits customers think we do on these bikes and many times we have to sell them at a loss. (Message edited by teach on June 06, 2009) (Message edited by teach on June 06, 2009) |

Vehicle sales are just a means to service vehicles. Henry Ford said he would give the cars away for free if he knew he would get all the parts and service sales. Notice how the razor manufactures will give you the Handel for free? Check the price of the blades? |

I just bought an 08 for $8,750 plus tax & lic. It has all the updates 05z flash, didn't have to hassle for any of it. This bike is stellar, I can't stay off off it. If I paid a grand more for it I would do it again. I't going in next week for the 600 mile and they are going to replace the loose mirrors. Thats it. To anyone laboring over if they should buy one just get it before the deals on these are gone. |

All of this sure makes me feel good about pre-ordering mine and paying msrp..... Ah, who am I kidding. When I first read about this bike, I wanted it so badly I would have bought it then even knowing what I know now. I dont regret it, but it sure would have been nice to save 33% |

'09 has different fuel injectors and the O2 sensor was relocated. These "tweaks" will not be done by the dealer, and to the best of my knowledge can not easily be retro-fitted to the '08. Spend some time reading here and note the issues still being reported on '08's, and '09's for that matter. You may want to consider waiting till '10 or shop another brand. That's what I did, now riding a Triumph Daytona675. Less money, lower cost of ownership, and trouble free. |

I have an issue with the Daytona 675, and I don't even own one... it simply sucks compared to my '08 1125R. And lower cost of ownership? Bah-- I'd like to see you drop that thing and repair the fairing for $50. (Message edited by pariah on June 06, 2009) |

Does anyone talk about fitting the 2009 fuel injectors to the 2007 ZX10? Or moving 02 sensor locations? these tweeks as you call them are evolutionary steps in the life of a motorcycle design. EVERY MOTORCYCLE GETS CHANGES LIKE THESE FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 2008 has had TWO occurances since I bought it. my left turn signal burned out and it has developed at tick in the front end. Both are covered by warranty and neither had to do with performance. I have ridden the 2009 1125R several times as I work at a dealership, and I own a 2008. The only difference I can feel between the two disapeared when I got the 04z update and that was a slightly buzzier feel at the bars on my 08. That was fixed by spending 11.95 for some Pro-Tek bar ends in blue. I don't need them now that the update was done but I leave them on because they look pretty. So the questions is.. Is the slight evolutionary step forward that Buell took worth an extra 3 grand to you (assuming that the white or red 09's don't have a greater esthetic appeal to you)? oh I almost forgot, I have to wipe the clutch weep up once a week or so but haven't noted any change in my cluch feel. I have the original cover on it. (Message edited by bikejunky on June 06, 2009) |

I believe the 09 injector change was an unnecessary change in response to the fueling problem before they knew it was software driven. The fuel was pooling on the valves because the injector timing was off, not an injector problem. The movement of the O2 sensor also appears to have been done to save BMC money in the long turn, not for individual performance or reliability issues. The only real difference between an 09 and a updated 08 is the alternator, bobins on the swing arm, and the paint. If you want an 08 just make sure it IS updated and go for it. |

Brap, Thanks for the lesson. I am glad that you feel comfortable enough to attack my integrity with out even meeting me. Apparently because I work for a dealership I am an idiot who is shameless in promoting a brand that I sell. I will lie and make up stories just to make sure that people buy a piece of crap that has no earthly business being bought or sold at all. By the way I believe I have met only 2 people who post on this website in person, and when I requested for people who lived with 500 miles to pipe up so I might ride with them, only those 2 people piped up. HMMM posting on this BBS will certainly help my greedy self sell some crappy no good buell 1125R motorcycles at a loss (you know, when you pay for something and then sell it for less money than you paid for it). FYI BRAP - In 2004 The Kawasaki ZX10 had wide spread problems with the FRAME breaking. Notice how the 2005 & 6 models were nearly 40LBS heavier? BTW Kawasaki has refused to replace the majority of the frames claiming stunting or abusive riding. I think this could be considered a reason not to buy an 04 zx10 vs. an 05 The 2008 Buell hasn't had ANY problems like this on even a small scale, yet you continue to bitch about stupid things like turn signals (which you can't even get right, I've noticed in several posts you call the failure a tail light failure). On top of that you preach about the evolution of the 2009 with its new and improved fuel injectors and relocated O2 sensors, of which both were done in haste (because they needed to start building the 09 models) to try and fix a problem caused by an admittedly silly (Jon Flickenger himself told me about this) mis-communication between Buell and Rotax which subsequently was fixed upon the advent of the 03z ECM flash on 2008 models and then improved upon two more times. Also I am sure that if you ask anyone who doesn't work at a dealership but owns an 09 and has ridden a properly updated 08 they will tell you pretty much the same thing I just stated above. Brap thanks for making the lives of everyone around you easier and exposing all the dealership personnel for the scum they are. I am sure that everyone on BWB will pat you on the back for your inspiring actions. (I am being facetious in the case you didn't pick up on that) |
