We're screwed! Can you imagine the whining there's gonna be now? Amazingly in practice today at Road America the fastest lap time was by Zemke, but he was only 20th in trap speed. Lap times Trap speeds |

It's not uncommon. Check out Rossi's top speed and pole times. Similarly, do that with Mladin too. It's always about getting to the checker first. |

Looks like a fair mix to me. 6 brands in the top ten lap times. 5 brands in the top ten trap speeds. Did you notice Mladin was #10 on the trap speed chart? Down by 5 MPH!!! I guess the rules are just too screwed up to allow him to compete. G |

Go look back at trap speeds from years before. Mat's generally never been the fastest. I mean, it wasn't anything regular. |

For DS, it's pretty wild that Hacking and Eslick didn't even make it into Superpole. Hoping for Bobby Fong to do well. Nice guy. |

AMA Pro has disallowed the times from, Erion Honda's Jake Zemke and Chris Peris, who had qualified first and third in Superpole. That means M4 Suzuki teammates Jason DiSalvo and Martin Cardenas both move up. DiSalvo now has his fourth Daytona SportBike pole in a row. Zemke and Peris will be allowed to qualify tomorrow. We're hearing the reason was fuel irregularities. |

Trap speeds published are being taken at the top of the hill and are slower than the actual top speeds. I have no idea why they are doing it that way. The Buells are getting a great driver off the last corner and the torque helps them up the hill. But the Aprilias are actually the fastest (about 8 mph faster than the Buells), and the Hondas were only 1 mph off the Aprilias. The actual top speeds are found at the end of the back straight. |

So it is as I suspected the 1125R fairing isn't that aerodynamic as a race bike, (disclaimer here not talking about street use). This means the 1198RR with full fairing will need a new version of the XBRR or better yet RR1000 fairing modified to use side mounted radiators. Anyone care to photo stop this? |

It sounds like they are measuring Trap Speed at the Start/Finish line. Why ??? Where is the Best place online to get most recent updates in todays qualifying and racing? Still considering making the trip for tomorrow (Weather, $$, etc.). Good luck to ALL the guys representing Buell. |

"So it is as I suspected the 1125R fairing isn't that aerodynamic as a race bike..." ?? A huge assumption based on some pretty sketchy information from a road race track. Gearing? Rev range? Power band shape? Rev limiter? Over rev characteristics?... G |

Aaaaaaaah!!! Looks like Shawn crashed on the last lap after putting in what seemed guaranteed to be the best Buell Superbike finish ever. But it looks like he was able to get back on and finish because he's listed as having 13 laps in at 18th place. It looks like Taylor Knapp also crashed. Hopefully both were minor and they'll both still be able to race Sportbike. |

. . . congratulations also to James Gang/Hoban brothers for the win in Moto GT1! And to Liberty waves for the 3rd place. |

Looks like Shawn and Taylor are both running Sportbike! The wet conditions could make things very interesting and should help the Buells. |

Shawn is there with both his bikes so if the Superbike isn't race-able, the DSB still is. Hope he's OK - (Message edited by slaughter on June 06, 2009) |

Very cool today! And . . in addition to "cool" it was darn cold at 48oF and fairly heavy rain. Congratulations to the Buell racers for a great showing . . . and best of luck tomorrow. The weather is looking a bit better for tomorrow and don't forget Daytona Sportbikes take the grid at 12:46 PM. |
