Maybe i don't watch enough white trash T.V... But all of a sudden i'm seeing a couple named John and Kate all over the news. Are they like Brad and Angelina?? The only real t.v. shows i can stand are "Breaking Bad" and "Cash cab" with the history, military and discovery channels thrown in. Maybe i need to quit watching CNN because that is where i've seen them. |

I love cash cab! No clue on John and Kate, they keep joking about them on Leno and now Conan, so it must be something important! |

The idiots that pass for reporters can't seem to understand that with only a month before their third/fourth season on reality TV they cooked up a controversy to drive up their ratings. It seems to have become a cottage industry with no real help to either the kids or the "couple" in the process of breaking up. Should be enough to finish 40 more episodes at $75k each tho. |

I'd have thrown her ass out in the front yard three seasons ago. Sad that the only think you have to do to become a celebrity is have a clown car uterus.

Quite a few years ago when "reality" TV entered our consciousness I predicted man would reach a point where people, dissatisfied with their own existence, would wear these special glasses with cameras and monitors so that they could monitor the everyday existence of everybody else and swap their own views with the other equally bored people. I think some people are getting really close to this. I was talking to this real old man in the parking lot of the supermarket. He was in his car waiting for his wife, and sharing an ice cream cone with his schnauzer. I pulled up on my Kawi and he was genuinely interested in talking about motorcycles (MPG, speed, types of bikes...). This guy lived a lot, probably fought in a war or two, and I bet he never watched a second of reality TV. They don't make them like they used to. |

Reality TV has a place because the average Joe has lost all hope of his life being anything but mundane. |

'Reality' is a misnomer. there is nothing real about it. it is 'unscripted television' - from the generation that gave us 'jackass'. nuff said. |

Somehow I'd rather see a midget getting punched in the balls than to watch J&K+8. |

I HATE with the strongest passion in the world reality shows. the only one I can even stand to kinda watch is last comic standing but thats because they actually do some stand up comedy on it. I think the people that came up with reality show should be tied up to a huge rock and thrown in the deepest ocean so they can sink to the bottom. |

I think Kate is a clone of my ex-wife. Voice... Looks... Mannerisms... The few clips I have seen from that show trigger post traumatic stress flashbacks. |

Man, you guys are ruthless. My wife has been watching the show for a few years now, I never cared for it. They started as a couple with fertility problems. They tried artificial insemination once, and ended up with twins. They wanted more kids so they tried artificial insemination again, but ended up with sextuplets. They decided to keep all of them and ended up with 8 kids. Originally a documentary was done about having two sets of multiples, but due to the popularity a TV show grew out of it. ~5 years later, the camera has taken its toll and they've turned into celebrities with marital problems. What always struck me about the episodes I had seen in previous seasons was how "normal" they appeared to be. It doesn't seem like this was their lifelong plan, to have a bunch of kids and become TV celebrities. They genuinely seemed to be regular people trying to manage a house full of kids. Now they're on the cover of every tabloid. It certainly seems that fame has gotten the better of them. However, I fail to see how that makes them idiots or unworthy to breed. I confess that I might have a biased opinion in this- I'm a parent too. Worse yet, my wife and I would like more than one child. Still worse, we're opposed to killing any children we have in utero. On top of that, if I were propositioned with a documentary about my life I don't know if I'd reject it. Also, while my wife and I have no intention of getting separated, we are not perfect and are susceptible to the same divorce rates as everyone else. Given all of that, I don't see any fundamental difference between my wife and I and Jon and Kate. I guess that means it's possible that my wife and I are also idiots who shouldn't breed. |

I saw some "relationship red flags" from the first episode (on both sides). Of course, I could say the same for most of my co-workers. And I constantly work on making my own marriage better. They were pulling in something like $50k per episode. What a nasty trap: 1) They have 8 kids, all almost the same age. They need some non trivial income. 2) They were making $50k per episode airing (I think). Thats really hard money to walk away from, and really hard to not let that kind of money mess with your head. I feel for all of them... |

January 1st, in a push to meet the rush to all digital or full black out. I shot my TV . I emptied a box of rounds into it. I have not missed it. they are threatening to lock out the cable provider where I am at, so there goes the computer next. |
