Yeah, but in that regard, go back even further in history and there was no timing cone. The XR1200 has a much better looking cam cover. |

I agree. I can definitely remember when Sporty's didn't have that wart on the right side case. They used to have a vertically mounted magneto or points enclosure on top of the right side cover under the carburetor like this: Funny how HD thinks it's important to lock in a "traditional" appearance, which is evidently defined as ~1980. Well, older than 1980 (I think it showed up in 1970), but still. That photo looks like it's a '64 - same year as mine. |
