I am discussing the 1125R on another board, and one person that recently test rode one found out the hard way about the solenoid. In the discussion I explained how its used to pass EPA regulations. I was questioned "I've never heard of restricting a throttle for EPA purposes on a motorcycle. Any other bikes have this , or is it a Buell thing?" So, anyone got the answer? I can't name any. |

Me thinks, though I have no way of proving it, that it was a 'planned gift' from the elves to us owners. An easily bypassed 'accessory' that allows the manufacturer to meet EPA requirements for the very specific test range, yet the owner can render obsolete in ~30 mins. or less w/ no adverse effects. That's my story & I'm stickin to it. |

Many, many others, in all kinds of different ways, like airbox valves, secondary throttle plates. It's really easy to do on ETC. Basically every high powered bike has it in some form. Of course it'd be just peachy to start a big internet conversation on it and find we're soon all riding mopeds... |

As anonymous stated other bikes have it. Troll other brand boards and do a search for secondary throttle plates and the like and I guarantee you will find a thread on how to remove them. |

"I've never heard of restricting a throttle for EPA purposes on a motorcycle. Either those guys have 5 - 10 year old bikes or they know nothing about what they are riding. |

Do some research on TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator). |

Hasn't the HD XR1200 got an active intake valve? My new CVO Fat Bob has I believe and it will be coming out as soon as I take delivery. Took it off the 1125R after reading the horror stories on this forum. |

And my GSX600 SRAD track bike needed a TRE because the ignition timing was cut back in second and third gears |

My Raptor needed a TRE as well. I've a feeling (and I may well be wrong) that the XB range for the Japanese market use a AI Solenoid? |

Good info all, thank you. Anyone know what the Yamaha FJR does? |

}I recently bought a new 1125r 2008 model from the local dealer. Did not get 100 miles on it before it started having throttle issues. Same as I have seen on other forums. Dealer verified it was the Air Solenoid (they disconnected it and ran fine) but could not leave it disconnected because Harley Corp said they have to fix it. So I am getting a new solenoid installed. Also buying the $6.02 part to by-pass it once I get it back. |
