Heh, I'm an EE and my HIDs are still in the box. Wiring is a pain. I'll agree that wiring is a pain! But for the improvement in lighting it is definitely worth the hassle. You'll be amazed at the difference once you do the conversion! And, NO! it's not because my old Firebolt headlight reflectors degraded. I took them apart and they look nearly brand new after 14,085 road miles on the XT-BOLT. Low beam (with insert removed):
The only thing that makes them not look shiny is a coating of dust that reminds me of pine sap. Man that stuff gets EVERYWHERE! If anyone else is interested, I got mine from http://www.xenonrider.com/. I got a couple of 'Referral Sale!' cards with my dual lamp kit. "$20 off single lamp HID kit or $30 off dual lamp HID kit" I can send one of the cards in a normal envelope so if anyone wants one just let me know your address and I will send you one. But it won't be until after I'm back from Homecoming... One of my buddies from Germany is coming over for Homecoming. Frank the owner and builder of the most AWESOME X1 I've ever had the chance to witness personally. Too bad he's not bringing it over for Homecoming...
Can you believe I'm already packed? 1313 |

Brankin, Amanda and I should be up there. Is your buddy with the Blast coming? I'll be arriving Thursday night (I hope.) I think your number is in my phone, I'll give you a call, probably Friday morning. Thursday is an all day ride up, so I probably won't get there till late. |

There were Clamps on my porch when I went home. They appear to be the same size as the Buell clamps. Life is good. |

That is one twisted X1. He must be making business for chiropractors when ever he rides in a city. Make sure he gets a chance to rent a Buell while he is here. F_S, nice set up. I attempted to assemble a pocket radio kit when I was around 13. Didn't know anything about proper solder technique. I found out years later why the radio did not work. At air force tech school I learned about "cold" solder joints. I blurted out "that's why that radio didn't work." Had a good laugh too. Another 290 mile Saturday coming up. Highway, no twisties. |

Nice ride today. Though the clouds around exit 273 on 40 convinced me to stop and put on the rain suit. Ended up not needing it. But after getting soaked in the last mile before home Friday returning from work, I didn't want to chance it. The only "excitement" on the ride to Wilson are the highway ramps. Almost up to 2K miles on the odo now. Just over a month old. |

I've made that run many times. I only do it if I have to make time. I rather be on two-lane backroads than US-264 & I-40. Take a look at you calender around June 13th. I will be riding up to the cabin just north of Winston-Salem and plan to have a ride area that area on Sunday 14th. It's only a couple of hours from Greensboro. |

A light bulb just went on in my head! Fishgutz - was that your '09 trasnlucent red XB12Ss at the Smokeout? If I had only remembered while I was there I would went up to you and introduced myslef. Heck I might have even offered you a beer - when you were done with the racing (I noticed the number on the flyscreen...). I'd post the pictures I took (and research a little more) if I was at my computer, but I'm punching this with my mom's keyboard and computer in East Troy... Mr. Nance, I will send you a PM (or Email) with my cell phone number very soon. I don't know what route you will take. I superslabbed it most of the way, and the GPS had a slightly different route for me than waht I've taken in the past. If you come up 65 N (North of Indy), be warned that it is down to 1 lane (starting at like exit 228) for a short stretch (< 5 miles, IIRC). Traffic was backed up further than the short stretch, which caused the XT-BOLT's fan to come on while the bike was running. It's happened before, but it was the first for this trip. 2nd and 3rd times this trip were trying to come up through Chicago on 94. I've had great trips up through Chicago on Sunday afternoons where I didn't have to put my feet down at all - but unfortunately this was not one of them. I-65 is also tore up at the 80-84 junction, but I cut US30 to 41 after it was suggested at a gas stop. But my excursion on 30 and 41 reminded me why I hate Illinois drivers, and gave me a new found disrespect for Indiana drivers. Hope your journey up here goes smoother. Scott (the guy with the Blast and as of last year a 2000 M2 in the US and an S1 and XB9R in Germany will (unfortunately) not be making Homecoming this year. Frank's English has come a long way, but you definitely need to talk a little slower to him. But he is a Buell nut, just like all of us. Ah, the International Brotherhood of Buell. I just can't think of anything that's better... Frank does have the majority of the starting point for another Buell project. I think we should find out what he's planning on doing with this one. 1313 |

Where is Smokeout? No numbers on my screen. I have to learn how to do that hanging of the side of the bike leaning thing before I do any racing. Also have to lose about 100 pounds. That will up my HP to LBS ratio by about 15%. (dry weight plus fat driver weight). |

I haven't decided yet. Right now my only search criteria is a fun commuter that's cheaper than the XB. Something like an FZ-1 or Bandit 1200 is topping the list at the moment, but that will probably change in the next few days. |

Spike, a co-worker of mine is selling a '97 Bandit 1200. I think he is asking around $2K. He bought an SV1K. I can forward his contact info if that might interest you. |

Well I posted on QB, but thought I'd share the news here. M2nc and I bought Webe's Blast and I'm going to learn to ride! Wish me luck and pray for Carlos! |

The Blast is what the HD Rider's edge uses. Great bike to learn on and it has enough power to get up on the highway. You'll have Blast riding it. Within a few months you'll be looking for an XB. |

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping Carlos and I can start with some basic stop and starts this weekend. We're looking at the calendar and trying to see when I can take a class and not wait until Fall. Mike - wish I could get to Ray Price for your class, but I just can't pull 4 days away from home. After I complete the class here, I'll get some pointers from you in one on one session! |

Thanks for the offer Jim. I know I have places to stay, it's time off of work and children that pose the biggest issue. I think we'll have a private lesson here one weekend ending the day with drinks and dinner and maybe a game or two of corn hole. We can hit Old Maple Hill the next day. I'll be on the Uly! |

After viewing many you tube clips with decent sound quality, the Drummer is definitely going on my list. One guy does a pretty cool demo with the different baffles available. About 8 minutes long. Nice deep thumping tone. |
