Battery on the XB12X was sad. If i had to start the vehicle 3 or 4 times on the same day it would really struggle to turn over. So ring the parts dept at my dealer - the aforementioned AMPS. Auckland's only authorised dealer and NZ's biggest shop. One in stock but it will need charging. 'Beauty - in tomorrow. Something in the back of my head says 'acid?', but - whatever. So I rocks into Newmarket and straight down the ramp where Shane the service manager has just walked out the door. He's wearing the biggest Buell logo I have seen on a jacket. 'I want one' says I. Giving the logo a flick still on my bike. 'Battery' At which stage he drops everything and gets on the case. Picks up the battery that parts have sent down and does that thing that Service guys always do when parts guys f-up. How long has this battery lasted Dave? 4 years? So lets put another Harley one in hey. They have to lay down and the acid ones.... sure thing. So while he had fetched a 'Harley' battery I wandered upstairs to the showroom. My pal Bob had just handed over the cheque on a new 15th Anniversary Speed Triple and they were doing the paperwork so I went and had a Dribble on the new Buells. They are immediately adjacent the front door and have as much front window space as the Harleys. Half a dozen new bikes - 2 Demos and a few used machines. Slap Bob on the back and headed downstairs and the Tractor is ready with a new gel battery. It's on your account Dave. Off you shoot. All dealers should be so crappy huh. I don't even shop around for bike prices any more. I just go there. I trust them to be fair and even if they didn't have the cheapest price I know I'll get what I pay for. They treated me like this before I had the media job too. The point of this long winded blurbage. Remember to specify gel (if that is what they call it) battery. |

Never except a gel cell as they have all around poor characteristics. AGM's rock. |

I try to always get what I need from my local dealer (Cerini HD - Buell) for that very reason. I may be paying more (maybe not) but they treat me right. |
