About 30 minutes after I got home the sky opened up. Thunder, Lightning (sounds like my garage) and street flooding. Jody, I guess I can't talk to you about cleaning your bike. The Uly has 400 miles of crap on it from all the rain I have been riding through the last two days. I am tiered of getting wet. |

Well, Dan and I FINALLY got out today. Dan's not much on riding if the weather looks imminent so we didn't do much riding this weekend, until today. We did get a lot done around the house, tho Went down to Monument and had lunch. Got a little bit of rain on the way home but not bad. Dan did some tweeking on my bike and WOW. That thing just hauled!!! What a blast. I just love my Blue Baby Buell. Hope everyone's having a great Memorial Day and do hope to get together very soon. God Bless our Servicemen and women |

I too was depressed by the holiday weekend weather. So today I got out and rode anyway. Thankfully I didn't get more than a few minutes of light showers at any one time. Made it out to PPIR in Fountain and watched some SCCA car racing for free! Awesome track and facilities. I hope I can get a track day in there this summer. |

I spent most my riding time dodging the rain. I think I have a cold coming on now. I have the rear end of the Uly apart to make a rear brake light mod. Just as well. Looks like I have a few days to get it done. On the bright side my yard is looking great! Frank |

Yeah, hang in there, "Good riding" is around the corner. I got no riding either. I DID get my yard mowed and my neighbor's, got the BBQ fired up and the last of the meat came off as the rain came in. Hope y'all had a good week-end anyway. Z&L |

Jody, did you go by that shop we talked about. I have been thinking about rain gear. The last time I had rain gear was in 1992. It did not work too well then so I gave up on it. After getting wet at over 9,000 feet I am re-thinking that. I also need to get a better helmet that has less wind noise. I am not sure what brand that may be but I will take a look real soon. I have started getting ready for my trip to Homecoming next week... |

Hey Frank. I went by the store but they were closed...duh...holiday. I'm not sure what material improvements have been made since 1992, but I'm very pleased with the rain pants I got, and they were relatively cheap, too. I've never bothered to try, but foam ear plugs may help with wind noise. I know whenever I wear my fleece and neoprene balaclava wind noise is significantly reduced. Ultimately it is the aerodynamics of the shape and surface of the helmet that determines how much noise is generated. I wonder if anyone has tested helmets for wind noise and published the results? I wish I could make the trip with you. Darn this having a job thing. |

Frank, having gotten caught in plenty of rain on our trips, rain gear is worth it's weight in gold. Also, if it's cold out, just putting on the top helps prevent the cold air coming thru your jacket, a great windbreaker. With all the toys you have, just go out and buy some rain gear |

What's this gonna due to HPR???} MORE ON 9NEWS AT 10 P.M. AURORA - A group lead by Colorado Springs developer Bill Schuck announced plans Wednesday to build a new race track in northeast Aurora. The $200 million race track would feature a 1-mile oval speedway, a 4-mile road course and a karting facility. It would seat between 65,000 and 100,000 fans on 1,500 acres on the TransPort property east of Peņa Boulevard. The private venture is expected to break ground in 2010 and will host numerous racing events, such as stock car, open wheel, midget and road racing. The developers said Wednesday the decision to move forward with plans for the track was influenced by the recent passage of Senate Bill 173, the Colorado Tourism Act, which could provide the group access up to $50 million in state sales tax revenue pay off construction bonds over a 30-year period. The bill has not yet been signed by Gov. Bill Ritter. TransPort also said it will ask Ritter and other government officials to help apply for federal discretionary stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Officials for the Florida-based International Speedway Corp. have said for more than two years that they would like to build a track in the metro area, but said any sort of venture would have to be a public-private partnership. Click here to see a map of where the racetrack would be located. This story from The Denver Post. |

Interesting story, but I don't think it will hurt HPR at all. They couldn't get the first headline event at a yet to be built facility for more than three years. This sounds like some big developers trying to leverage existing track owners and maybe suck up some of the yet to be paid tax dollars the new administration is handing out. There is also the new country club racing facility in the metro area...and the PPIR facility. Those developers must be smoking something funny. |

Unfortunately Jody, from what I've heard, HPR has no more $$$$$. I do think this is going to hurt HPR if it does get built. |

i think HPR will be fine. it's all private money and club affiliations. i doubt many of us regular folk would be able to get on the new aurora track. plus, with such a large oval, they must be aiming for nascar or other major racing leagues. i don't see them ever filling out 100,000 seats in this town. |

There's also going to be a 4 mile track in addition to the oval. I think it would be great to have Nascar come to Denver. I would love to go to a Nascar race. |

a number of drivers would like it, too. good fan base here. but nascar will have to make room in the schedule. pretty packed now, it seems. |

John, I saw that in one of the magazines we get. I mentioned it to Dan but he didn't seem real interested. It looks like it could be fun. We're heading up to Estes Park tomorrow (hopefully the weather holds up) and may stay overnight. We'll be heading out in July for our one wk venture with the RV and bikes. Some riding and camping. Can't wait! |

Julie, have a fun and safe ride. I will not be riding this weekend. Thanks to riding in the rain last weekend at altitude I am very sick and Lynn is taking care of me. I hope I am better by Wed when I take off for Homecoming. Frank |

John, probably not, on the Memorial ride this year. Most of the guys from our church that had bikes don't anymore. Frank, get that rain gear Sorry your sick, that's no fun. And speaking of rain gear, we can't find my rain pants, bummer, will have to buy another pair, as I'm sure we'll run into some rain this weekend. Typical Colo weather. Have fun at HC. Is Lynn going out with you? Be safe. Dan's so anxious to get out on the bikes even HE doesn't care if it rains some this weekend. Hopefully no downpours tho. We had hail last year about this time. Hope to get some video of this trip with the new camera. If it comes out OK I'll try to post some vids. We all need to get together soon for some mountain twisties. (I think I've forgotten how to lay it over) |

I can show anyone how to lay it over...I laid the bike completely over tonight. I was only going about 50...percent of 1 mph. I was looking up in the sky at a helicopter while turning onto a small dirt path and thought I was completely stopped! Broke one of my mirrors and scraped some metal. My wrist and shoulder hurt from simply catching my own weight - pitiful. Remember the old TV show Laugh In where the old guy riding the trike comes to a stop and simply tips over? That was me. |

It sounds OK, Jody... nobody saw you right? The important part is to throw yourself between your Buell and the ground, so she doesn't get damaged.. That Motomarathon DOES look interesting. Z |

Jody glad you are ok. I am sure it could have been worse. However I do not think you are ready for a Uly. If you were you would have taken a picture of your bike laying on its side, seems like all the Uly guys do that. Is there anything you need the garage for? I am going to try and talk Lynn into making a trip to that bike store to get some rain gear. |

I don't know why I didn't take a picture with my camera, a few minutes later I took some pics of the scenery. For a moment I was embarrassed and worried the guys in the Blackhawk may have seen me. Frank, if you have any left over lollipop mirrors I could use one of them until I buy some replacement mirrors. I may just go to the auto parts store and see if I can find a stick-on round mirror to put back in the mirror frame. Since I bought the bike used it seems reasonable to let this one take a few hits here and there while I learn and experiment. Getting upset about it not being perfect is a temptation, but then it wasn't in perfect condition when purchased. Sooner or later I will have the resources to rebuild the bike, which seems like more fun than buying a new one! |

Jody, I have some from my 97 S1 but do not think they will fit. Check American Sport Bike or give HCHD a call. When you get ready to rebuild I am thinking Uly tail section and suspension. |

Well, we went for our ride. Didn't quite make it to Estes, too much rain. Turned back just north of Ward, went thru Boulder Canon, down 93 and had lunch in Morrison. Made it home just in time to get out of the rain again. Thank goodness we had our rain gear. Had to clean the bikes, they were filthy. We met up with Michael, with his Aprillia. He followed us from 470 to the gas station in Golden and we talked for a while. He probably made a better decision and went up Lookout Mtn Road and we headed north. We probably should have stayed East of the mountains. Oh well, we need the rain but I'm ready for warmer and dryer weather. |

Julie, I bought a rain suite today. I have not worn one of these things in 15 years. It is packed on the Uly ready for Homecoming.
I am glad you and Dan were able to get out for a ride today. It has to get better. I think Feb weather was the best we had this year. One day you and Dan are going to have to go out to Homecoming. |
