anyone know of a halfway decent shareware program for an engine simulator? I would buy one and probly will but it wont make it to afghanistan for months so something downloadable would be cool in the mean time...anyone screwed with anything like that? |

I use Dyno2000 for my V8 work. I believe there is a new version out. Haven't compared it's result with actual dyno readings. Not optimum for bikes but can be made to work. Joe |

I've gotten quite close with Dyno2000 and the actual dyno comparison. Key thing is to use Dyno2000 as a comparison model, and not an absolute. If you want an absolute number then be willing to spend big money on full engine simulations. One of my favorite things is that it can extrapolate by running thousands of comparison on different parameters like valve or cam sizes. Other nice feature is that you can optimize to HP, Torque, BMEP, etc. depending upon what you're looking for. If you're into engine design and tuning then I'd recommend it. I'd give it a 9 out of 10. |

I agree exactly. Lets you even play with timing and see the effects. One of the best tools to prevent over camming, for sure. Joe |

I have dyno2000 and their latest one (have yet to see the improvemt...) I also have CompCams "cam selector", its exactly like desktop dyno2000 but the forced induction options are spelled out a little clearer and you can ONLY use compcams... no biggie for me... I prefer comp cams. do some google reaserch, there have been companies that have put those programs to the test and the results were suprisingly close to the real dyno runs! |
