To anyone wondering about reliability of their 1125 check this out. I think I'll forget about the rear signals that keep burning out. http://www.ducatitrader.co.uk/louigi/748_ducati.ht m |

Ya know, my turn signal went out today, 08 1125r with 4400 miles on it. No big deal. I have arms to signal, and I know the new ones will work just fine. It's under warranty! I can't imagine having to deal with all those issues, really the only big concern I had was a clutch cover weep that is annoying more than it is anything. Not like the rear brake is going to lock up, or something fall off. Nothing's perfect. But for some people it's not enough. |

Simple fix. . . You want to see a box that looks like this:
This is what you DO WANT (note gray sealant)
This is what you DO NOTWANT (note black sealant)
But I'm a construction worker so check with your AUTHORIZED BUELL DEALER for accurate information. |

Yeah I got em squared away today with it and "advised" them to order one extra because the other may very well go out to. They didn't mind, the Tech was happy to know about it. |

Inherent, but easily correctable, design faults don't put me off anywhere near as much as bad build quality and quality control. My TL had it's share of bugbears, much like the 1125R, but was easily worth the effort. Ditched the rotary rear shock(went Ohlins), reinforced the rear shock mount, ditched the steering damper (but spent some time setting up the suspension and stuck with 180 instead of 190 tires) and all the whinging journo's complaints came to nothing. That's where boards like this become invaluable resources for information on how to get the most out of your machine. Not to mention anticipating and preventing known problems BEFORE they become an issue. Not much you can do about poor, or inconsistent, build quality and quality control though... |

Gearhead, Try to race with an S1 or an M2 cyclone. I think you'll have big problems too. You can't compare a 10 years ago with a modern bike. Modern ducati do not have such problems. |

I guess I missed the humor in the article, looked pretty normal for a race bike to me. Go race a bike with points, condenser, carbs and wire wheels (early '80s TZ250s). Bikes today practically take care of themselves. I've got about a total of 8 hours of track time on my 11 and I had to....er....do nothing but adjust the air in the stock tires. Runs like a top! |

Fresnobuell, You wacky fun guy. The water mark was set pretty high on this one it was inevitable that my 10 year old flashbacks would fall short. ___________________________________ Disclaimer; BrapBrapBrap does not currently own an 1125 but looks forward to getting a water cooled Buell. So should a new cr be considered to have the bugs worked out and be as trouble free as a new xb? |
