Has anyone, or knows anyone, that has tried to fabricate a plastic fender eliminator? I was gonna give it a go, but I'm not sure what kind of plastic to use. Since the OEM is plastic i think it would work. Any suggestions will be appreciated

I'm sure that you have seen this before, but this is what I did for my tail tidy (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/446495.html). It's not plastic, but it might provide you with some ideas. Also, someone on here cut the OEM one and screwed the license plate into it.

I know this may not be exactly what you are looking for, but hopefully it will help in some way.

christian, i have seen your project, and i actually saved your pictures on my desktop for reference. I built one similar to yours, but mine has wings(where the blinkers attach) and I bought an industrial grade aluminum cookie sheet instead of the street sign. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, but it just seems too "flimsy" for lack of a better word.

Hmmm, that's interesting.

After welding the blinker tabs on mine, it really made it a lot sturdier. It moves slightly if I push or pull the bottom, but not enough to worry me. Besides, there shouldn't be anything to apply force to it under normal circumstances. Just my 2 cents : )

i came close to copying christiankid's version of a homebrew tail, however i have A.D.D. and have a hard time concentrating on a project for more than 2 hours at a time, so mine doesnt look quite as good as his IMO.

i used just some 1/8" aluminum plate traced out a pattern, jig sawed it, flap disk-ed it to perfection, bent it in a vise with a couple pieces of wood and a rubber mallet, then drilled holes, mounted and cleaned up. did it in one afternoon... and only 2 beers!

bobby, there is a guy on here that took his stock piece, cut it down at an angle , and epoxied some plastic to mount the license plate bolts. you can do a search for it, it will come up.

Taking mine to a local fabricator on Monday. They make plate relocators for numerous models and will use mine for prototyping the 1125. They sell online and at a local store front in Cocoa FL. I had one of the relocators on my Triumph 675 and really liked it. Intergrated turn lights and plate light, all LED. Will post pictures when done.

What is the rule about posting links to suppliers that are not sponsors at this time?

someone already mentioned the poster that fabricated a fender eliminator out of the OEM fender. Here is the link.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/420675.html

an anony on that thread also provided a stock number for a race fender eliminator, which could cover up the holes left when you remove that stock fender.

“Buell race support offers a license plate bracket eliminator for race bikes, track day prep, etc. L0040.08AZ

A shaped vac formed plastic plate with just the depressions for the three mount holes. It's on the track day bike, and the Rossmeyer Moto-ST bike on the IMS tour.”

I thought it was a good idea to combine the race support part with the OEM modified fender eliminator.

Most of it is plastic, with the exception of one of the brackets, I think.
