FMJ, I'll check with the dealers here. Do you have a serial number for it? Email me any info you have. Pete |

Pete, here is an almost identical bike for sale.http://www.darwinmotors.com/usedbikes.html I will get serial # to you later this week as its to late to slog down to barn and I work next 48 hrs.I got hold of that West Coast Derbi distributor guy-he's the one that helped me id the bike as a stock 75cc and not an aftermarket bigbore. Also the one who told me parts are kinda scarce. Thanks,Jim H. |

FMJ, this may sound dumb, but since i am not sure what you are going to do with the bike, does it matter if the cylinder and head are aftermarket???My guess is if you are going to Bonni, that some classes mandate it, not others, will keep looking in the heart land Roger |

FMJ Here is another place to look: http://www.ciaysr.com These folks take racing 50cc's pretty serious, but may have some valuable info, plus you could post and add online and maybe find some help http://www.uorra-sm.com Steve started this in IL, wanted to road race on go cart track similar to cali, there were problems with noise and liability, but he was going to set up a derbi 50 race program and got as far as a racer price from the the dealer (cycle works) worth a shoot, but i doubt you will get much http://www.rscycles.com These guys do 125/250/500 2 strokes but worth an email, they also do a lot of importing on 2 stroke small bore hondas, worth an email, you never no the worse thing they can say is no http://www.gpstar.net Cycle importer, mostly japan(but there are a lot of 2 strokes over there) again worth an email, he is a great guy to work with, and will try to get you what you need Thats all i have for now, will look in the old files, but most of my stuff pertaines to 125 bikes, but i had an interest in 50cc'c at one time and will keep my eyes open Roger |

During a ride yesterday, (yes, some of us can ride in the winter) :oP My '95 S2 started smoking (blue smoke) when I backed off the throttle on hard deceleration. I am assuming this is either due to the valve guides failing, or the rings. Bike doesn't appear to have lost any power. The bike has 143,000 miles on it, with about 22,000 on the current top end. Time for a rebuild already? |

Oh man, tempting opening bid price. I should bid on it just to get things started knowing full well that I will be outbid. Aaron, did your guy ever find an S2 to fit his price range limits? |

Yeah, well, if it doesn't go substantially higher than that, I'll be bidding on it. I figured I'd go ahead and open it low with no reserve to show people we're serious about selling it. I hate bidding on reserve auctions anyway. The S2 search continues ... hopefully this one stays within the budget. |

FMJ, Team calamari are good people. They did a complete rebuild on the YSR engine for me. And they are usually pretty good about phone tech support. I've called them up while in the garage just to ask a question and/or to order a part, and they've spent .5 hour or so walking me through a procedure. I've heard from others out at the track that they dont like them too much, but I think thats because Team calamari always wins. Good people in my book though. do I smell a 100cc Sidecar rig in the works? |

Yep, Traderonline.com. For local stuff you can try adquest.com but I don't know how fluid the local market is right now. You might want to eventually talk to the guys in Waukesha who sell Duc's, Kaw's, Suzuki's, and the occaisional used Buell (I always forget their name as there are a couple of shops there that I go to sometimes, try Motorsports Factory and ask if they're the ones who sell bikes or just accessories and are on 164 near Main, if they sell just accessories then it's not them, but they're good to go to for accessories). MikeJ (going for the most words in parenthesis award since Bomber is planning to kick my rump in B-Trax this year) |

Ferris. PICS! ...and the White Lightning was also available in an X1 version. sorry PPiA, my bad. i kinda went "away" for several years around '99 or so is my only excuse never been a huge fan of the X1, but have always liked the raw, naked presence of the S1's. took my first real ride on the new scooter yesterday afternoon, an easy jog along Lake Isabella's western shoreline, and it sure feels good to be back on a Buell! thanks to everyone for the congrats FMJ, no progress to report on the BLURR, as my energies (and monies) of late have been devoted to checking the valve clearances on the VFR (yes, i still have it, but not for much longer...), a major (for me, anyway) procedure that i will NEVER undertake again. Blake, yep, still have the BLURR, will ALWAYS have the BLURR! (so tell that feller in Colorado to get his OWN S2! ) ride to lean FB ps: track day? oh yeah, it'll be smokin' the Battle Trax course in Stockton on Feb. 23! |
