Summit is bumpy. Haven't ridden since last year, but they also like to mix up the track surface, some of the patches are concrete. Turn 5 (downhill left coming into carousel) is the slowest on the track, and you come into it going pretty fast. It changes camber in the middle as the track flattens out, so you lose ground clearance in the middle of the corner. The carousel is a corner I've never figured out (I'm not very fast, you see...). It's a looooong right turn that opens, then closes at the end before a quick left. The truly skilled (not me) seem to be able to be on the throttle from the left all the way through the right onto the back straight. The turn onto the front straight produces a big pucker factor for me, its a FAST 3rd gear turn for me. Important turn to get right, as it helps out with your front straight speed. The straights can get long with 90hp, but its fun passing SV650's & Ducati 750SS's. Turns 1 & 2 are fun, once you can convince yourself that you really can brake that late. My highest top speed ever is from the front straight at Summit. Turn three is an over-the-top-of-a-hill left. I like that turn too, sort of roller-coastery. Watch for mud, the cars drag a lot onto the track. Seems to be prevalent mostly in turn 1, from what I remember. The pits are gravel, with paved divider roads. Summit has had more than its fair share of deer issues. Keep your eyes open. Some of the roads to the track have humpty-roads, some that hide farmer's 90-degree corners. Don't have too much fun unweighting the trailer on the way to the track, you might run out of brake zone. My 0.02, offered for free. When using my advice, remember what you paid for it. Summit Point remains one of my favorite tracks. |
