Now that I'm awaiting my ULY XT, I have to get a windscreen solution as the noise with the stock high screen drove me crazy on the test ride. I know I can probably ride with no windscreen and not get noise, but I'm a "wind off the chest" type of guy for highway rides, and want something to help block that wind. I'm looking at the Palmer brackets and the Madstad brackets right now. I've read quite a bit about them here, and both seem to garner positive reviews. I'm wondering if anyone has tried both, and which one was preferred and why? Also, has anyone had a negative experience with either of these? Thanks, Trevor |

I have the Madstad and it works fine for me, but I can't compare it to the Palmer as I have never tried it. Before you spend the money on either, you might want to try the shorter stock 'shield from a regular X. It will keep the wind off your chest just fine. And, you can use it with the brackets if you choose to later on. |

I have the Palmer brackets with a 16" Parabellum windscreen, which is also about 4" wider than stock. Works well for my 5'8" frame and colder weather riding. No 'negatives' in 10,000 mi. I hear the Madstad is also a good product - but you have to change the flyscreen too. j |

I run the Madstad bracket with an MP Cycle Design touring screen (bought from Madstad) The windscreen is a few inches taller and wider than the Buell tall screen. The fit and finish of the Madstad is excellent and it's quick and easy to adjust. I like the MP screen all the way up and forward for cooler temps. Between swapping out the Buell short, tall and MP screen, I have a solution for pretty much all temps and wind preferences. |

I have had both - both work great but I like the Madstadt better due to the aluminum flyscreen. The Palmer vibrated too much for me. Palmer is much much cheaper though |

+1 on Nipsey's comment. The MadStad system is terrific and very solid. That said, the Palmer vibration was not bad enough for me to replace them. I did it for the adjustability (now available on the Palmer). I also had the advantage of having the fastest BLACK color so the MadStad screen was a good choice. If I had another color I might go with the cheaper Palmer. |

Is the MP touring screen (16") taller than the Buell tall screen? How tall is the Buell tall screen, which is standard on the XT? I know it's 4 inches taller than the standard X screen. The Madstad site says that their 16" screen is 4" taller than the Buell screen... I just don't know which Buell screen they mean. |

The XT screen is 16", which includes a 2 1/4"laminar lip. Husky |

Husky, by 2 1/4" laminar lip, do you mean the little part at the top that kind of flips up? I suspect that that might be the cause of the wind noise that I experienced... Does the Madstad MP touring screen have a lip like that? |
