OK, I can't take the plastic bendable oil cap/dipstick. . . Has anyone tried out other solutions? If so, what worked and what didn't? |

Welcome Conwaybrew! You want to know if there is a replacement available? There isnt. I've never heard of anyone doing anything with the stock dipstick. I think you're the first to think its a problem?! Unless I dont understand the question |

Not really a problem per se - I would just prefer something easier to read. . . Black plastic and oil in bad lighting conditions seem pretty similar. I was thinking of something in steel or aluminum and more as a unique feature than an issue. Thanks for the welcome! I post on other Buell sites but realized all the technical stuff was here! |

I'm thinking that "Moderator" on 12 Buell websites is a bit excessive. I'm going to recommend his title be changed to "Excessivator." |

LOL - I only moderate in three, the rest are just me checking in once a day thing, however, I have met a lot of Blastards this way, and learned a lot of stuff. The boards are run for the riders though - I just try to help out and follow the board policy where I can. I am honored to be a Caretaker/Moderator here on the BADWEB - the oldest Buell website, and still most active, the fellow Moderators are infamous/famous for their own knowledge and skills. I am constantly newly amazed to this day by them. It is you - my fellow riders - who make up the heart of the board and the majority of the knowledge - Thank you. EZ |

As for the dip stick - I'd love for someone to build a temp gauge into it as well. EZ |

I want one, that's a great idea for a custom dip stick. |

That would be cool - so, who can make one? |

I had a problem with the dipstick on my '09, for some reason it just wouldn't screw back in very well, almost like it was misaligned. Easy fix, just switched it with the one from the '05. Never had a problem with it. Not to go off the subject, just passed the 9,000 mile mark on the '09 and made the switch to Mobil 1 15/50 Full Synthetic oil in prep for summer trip. This past weekend did not burn any oil! I was using a 15/50 blend and was adding oil about every 200 miles, not a lot, but still adding oil. Will be nice if I can cut down on adding oil. |

The best way to reduced oil consumption (not oil leakage) is either ride it hard while it is still in the break-in period, or do some sort of upgrade that requires a new break-in, and ride it hard ... um, you get the idea. That's my plan one of these days. |
