http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/9/3317/Motorcycle-Ar ticle/2009-Daytona-SportBike-Comparison.aspx Another article complaining the Buell has to much advantage. You know the factory jap teams dont have a stock bike. And they still whine. |

much ado about nothing...... other than enthusiast BBS banter, few in the world really care about the Buell/Aprilia vs 600 engine 'issue' [so far] Buell is winning as much or more than the Japanese bikes - true news, baby I hope it takes a long time for THAT to die down..... |

This is simple. The engine is an air pump. Comparing engines according to how much air they pump is a more realistic and fair way than by displacement alone. The amount of air an engine will pump is based on flow, displacement and rpms. The meat of the matter is that the Daytona Sportbike series is the most competitive class that exists in AMA racing. The proof is in the pudding, which you can't have any of until you eat your meat. |

Well Then, I look at like this, before the AMA Sportbike class, what you had was the big Japanese 4 with their in-line fours and the subtle inference that if you weren't a Japanese in-line four, you just couldn't compete. Buell and Ducati were the only non-in-line fours ( I mean V-Twins) who could compete. Am I surprised that there are lots of Buell haters out there? No way.... Buell is costing them sales.....and letting the world know that Aprilia and Triumph, BMW, KTM, and Duk can compete pretty well when the field is level. Good on Buell! |

There are a lot of "Buell haters" out there in the USA that have nothing to do with "sales", as they simply have brand loyalty to their machines. I don't get it myself, but I do not pretend to understand the "Mericun" male mind. The real kicker is how many Buell haters own Hardly Ableson motorcycles...that takes the cake. But the number one head scratchin' reason to be a Buell Hater is to be a HD Dealership owner. |

It is kind of weired isn't it Jim. Some H-D dealer owners might hate Buell because they felt it was forced on them back in the Tuber days, others may feel that if I'm buying a Buell I'm not buying a more profitable soft tail like that would happen. |

Let me put it this way, If HD did not have a buell in their showroom. I would not bother showing up. I constantly call Patriot HD in VA and ask if they have buell parts. I just love when they sound so pissed off about it. Don't get me wrong, they are nice quality bikes, but the only HD I would get is a Road King, and in maybe 20 years I might be up for one. Buell is like Ducati its a way of life. Its like being a Corvette or Mustang guy. No one says I am a Camry guy,lol unless you batt for the other team |

You're now getting a glimpse at the political maze Erik has had to weave his way through at Harley-Davidson over the years. Great change is underway. |

"You're now getting a glimpse at the political maze Erik has had to weave his way through at Harley-Davidson over the years. " I really, really hope Erik Buell writes his story someday. The more I learn of him the more I realize what an amazing story he has to tell. |

Then I would finally read another book other than Courts. I wouldn't have been as quick to buy my bike if a Sales woman didn't spend the time to tell me Erik Buells story. Somehow I feel like I spent 11K to be part of that story, cheesy, huh? |

I constantly call Patriot HD in VA and ask if they have buell parts. I just love when they sound so pissed off about it. LOL. Ive stopped at a few harley dealers and asked if they sell Buell. When they say no, I say "thats too bad", turn around, and walk out. Does that make me a bad person? |

Personally I'd like to see Buell only dealerships. Along with that it'd be nice in my book if Buell split from HD altogether. Nothing against HD, I actually like one or two models in their lineup. Put the Helicon in all of the Buell models and keep moving forward like they have been. |

Buell2001b, I've been to Patriot in VA. Very Buell unfriendly. I take most of my biz to Old Glory in Bowie, MD. |

I've been to Suzuki and Kawasaki dealers that "suck". I haven't been to a ton of Harley-Davidson dealerships, but I'm sure they are full of people that are enthusiasts one day and maybe have bad days the next. What a dealer sells and stocks really has to do with what their market and focus is. Some like Buell and embrace it even though it might be full of poor college students that don't buy regularly and are very price sensitive. I'm not very far into my Buell experience personally, but I've really enjoyed working with Uke's. But I think you've got to train your perspective dealership too. Tell them what you think, give them an opportunity. |

Put the Helicon in all of the Buell models and keep moving forward like they have been. I'd much prefer a Buell engine designed and built in-house. I would also like stand-alone dealerships, but still under the H-D umbrella- there's too much to lose leaving the mother ship. Buell/MV Augusta/Cagiva dealerships would be great competition for Ducati/Triumph/KTM and Aprilia/Moto Guzzi/Piaggio dealers. Buell is the exotic american motorcycle, built for enthusiasts by the passionate. They don't deserve to be hidden in the corner like the red-headed step-child. We need our own space and be displayed along with other exotic, passion-inspiring motorcycles. The acquisition of MV Augusta could provide Buell the freedom it needs to truly become a world player. I sincerely hope it happens. |

Ebear, it wasn't supposed to be a Wisconsin joke, but now that you mention it it was funny. The sales girl has been riding since before I was born, broken more bones than I knew people had and spent tons of time giving me (new rider) advice. It might be 'cuz she's genuinaly concerned, or the way I keep starring at the Uly and 1125 like I can't make up my mind. I think both. As far as the joke in the profile, I stole it from here on badwed. I'll try to post it.
