And apparently early 90's Mercedes are built like tanks. I picked up this 300ce for 1500$, with 170k on the ticker, and the thing runs/looks like it is almost new. I am definately impressed at the quality. the 24v inline 6 will be recieving a turbocharger within the year, stay tuned. |

Back in August, bought the wife a used '06 E350 for less than the price of a new Camry. I'd never pay $53K for this car new but have found that people who lease luxury vehicles tend to take very good care of them and then turn them in in excellent condition. After 30 months it had 33k miles and looked indistinguishable from a new '08. |

The original owner was/is very, very ill and I believe just passing it on to someone who would appreciate it. Pretty sad, but I had a great conversation with him for about a half hour. A real eye opener talking to someone who knows their time is about up. Summary: Enjoy life, love yourself and family |

"...people who lease luxury vehicles tend to take very good care of them." Case-in-point: My '05 E55 which will come off lease next June with roughly 32,000 mi. and two years of factory extended warranty remaining. The back seats have been sat in perhaps 1/2 doz. times, the front passenger seat not much more. The trunk has never seen anything except my gym bag. I'm guessing it'll hit the dealer's lot at $40-45K; a new one is $105K. Somebody is going to get a hellava' car at a major discount. |

I always thought Mercedes were a little behind BMW in terms of quality, and they were just more "stylish" of the german cars. I looked at a few old BMW's and they do not hold up nearly as well as mercedes. |

I've always been more of a fan of BMW style, it's become apparent to me that Mercedes quality is much better. A friends dad drove Volvos and BMWs for years and now is driving an E55-sweet car! |

I've always been an un-fan of BMW style when compared to a Merc. >>E55-sweet car!<< You wanna try an late model E55 AMG. Low 11's from a luxury sedan. (10's with a chip). We had one for a while. Awesum vehickles. Bit impractical and too sweet a temptation to floor it. |

Not so much luck from me when I had a 2000 ML320 WHAT A TERD! Had it a month BLAAAAAAPPPPP, Catalytic Converter busted it's welds. Part was on back order for 9 months. Needed brakes also, $500 front/$500 back. Had to be done by MB and had to replace rotors every time you changed the pads. Was told ML were junk, I believe it. |

Just swapping a 2006 for a 2009 . . . best car my wife has ever had. Dealer experience in this area is off the charts good. |

I used to be a tech for benz. Those AMG's are fun to drive. The 2003+ E55 is hands down my favorite car from them. (as far as fun drive time goes) but in all reality I'd never ever own one. its just a name game....quality isnt there, well besides there leather seats! they do have some of the best leather ever! It will last you a darn lifetime if you treat it well! there older cars are solid, but pretty much everything 03 and up is iffy. but in general, they cost too much for what they are. But different strokes for different folks i know! Do I miss beatin on those AMG's! and let me warn any AMG owner, I don't care who works on your car... It will pretty much floored on the entire techs test drive! Every tech has his quick test drive route and his fun test drive route...AMG's always get the fun route :-) (well the 03 and newer models) Cochise: those ML's were HUGE terds! and they eat the brake pads like no other! pretty much 20K and you need pads/rotors! even the newer ML's and GL's are the same way. hell, try paying for a pad/rotor job on any of the 55's/63's! haha! If anyone has a tech related question let me know and I'll help the best I can. I only worked there for just under 5 years, but still remember a good bit. but had to leave, being a commission based job...it flat out sucked! warranty pay was crap! And I think im a little too honest, so it made bringing home the bacon kinda hard some weeks! |

Froggy, I may need your advice down the road. I just found the factory service manual and it's pretty useless . |
