Don't know about the frame width, but you'd have to weld on some lugs for it to bolt to.

What!? The giant out-of-place subframe is my least favorite part of the X1. Why put one on a bike that is the very definition of streetfighter?

Oh well.. to each his own. I've got an extra subframe available if you wanna buy one to experiment with.

Um, it's really a solo bike, unless you get the two up tail and seat. There's one on eBay.

But it'll still probably not a very comfy ride for the passenger.

S1 is not for comfort, that's for sure.

If your goal is comfort and not looks, then the X1 tail and seat will be a step up. The only complaint I've gotten from passengers on my X1 is about the aggressive seating position, not the seat comfort. There's nothing to hold onto back there so they either feel vulnerable to falling off or have to lean on me which is less than ideal for any kind of distance.

lets talk about taking an x1 seat and subframe and cutting the frame on a lime that would continue from the bottom side of the top arm...a support would then be built out of more tube...maybe a less extreme more two person friendly version of this buell that pretty much rocks http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Mvhjidbvdzc/SQC_uhKwTxI/ AAAAAAAAJCc/VWtXEUXnMPI/s1600-h/buell+1.jpg

its a pretty non reversible process. you will have to cut the tail section off of your frame, then weld mounts for the x1....the seat will need modified because it is not the same shape in the front as your s1 tank......i have an x1 and i would kill for an s1 solo setup......or one like that picture...but i settled for painting my subframe

I had an S1W with a later M2 seat fitted to it. The guy I got the bike from was 6'6" and did it to fit. I reconverted the bike to original (I still need the bracket which holds the tail lights) but you can get the tail section if you like. Here's how it looked (I have better pics if interested):

If you want the X1 seat, just get an X1.

I mean, if you think about it, they are both tube frames, only thing cosmetic is the tank cover and the rear subframe. No need to destroy an S1 to make it a psuedo X1.

Seriously, S1's aren't made for comfort, they are made for bad ass mother f*cker's. At least that's what the bike says to me, and I would have bought one had I known about them when I bought the M2.

Ditto on what BRIN said. Don't buy an S1 cause your looking for comfort. Thats not what it was made for. X1 guys that sat on my S1 before I re did my seat didn't know how I stayed on it for as long as I did. Any mods like that will only detract from that savage "where's the seat look". You know a woman really wants to go for a ride if she gets onto the back of your S1. I have a Road King that spends most of its time in the garage cause its not my S1

Good choice. Both works. Have the S1 for savage solo riding, S3 for spirited riding with passenger and Road King for just puttin down the road on a rolling sofa
