YES IT'S ON! Version 3 of the Reservoir Ride will take place Saturday, May 23, 2009. For any that show up on Friday, it wouldn't take a lot to get me out of the shop for a "test ride", go eat, meet and greet etc. Those of you new to Res Ride, it's held the weekend of Memorial Day every year. To avoid my fiasco from last year, I double checked the date to make sure I have it right, the first time, this year. We ride around 3 or 4 or 5 reservoirs (depending on which route we run), hence the name, thru the mountains of central PA in and around Altoona. My shop is located 8 miles north of Altoona in Bellwood and serves as the HQ for the ride. My shop address is 550 N 5th St, Bellwood, PA 16617. Most newer GPS units should have my address in them now, if it doesn't show-use 600 N 5th St. In the past, those who have arrived on Friday have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Altoona. There are a few other hotels/motels in Altoona. If you need me to get some prices, let me know. Tom and Joe's (http://www.tomandjoes.com) Diner is still a go for Saturday morning breakfast. Some new news on Clem's BBQ! They are supposed to be relocating closer to my shop some time in April/May. They are looking at 2 locations, one is only 3-4 miles away-the other is about 5-6 miles away. Much better than the 26 miles they are now, although the ride to and from was just an added bonus. The last 2 years, we've averaged around 20-25 riders that have come in from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Latrobe, York etc. Maybe we can get the DC/MD/VA gang to make an appearance again this year? WolfRidgeRider is planning on coming in from Columbus, OH this year! More info as the ride gets closer. If you need more info, PM me. |

Clem's, I was introduced or seduced last year at RR II. Can't beat it. Good riding, friends & BBQ. Sounds like a good time. |

Sadly, the DC/MD/VA group was missing last year I plan on doing the ride this year. I'll see if I can coax some others from the DC area. I had on planning on doing the ride last year, but I lost my tranny 2 weeks prior to the ride. |

Cborel, Welcome to the ride! Dano12s has an 1125R that he rode over last year. As the ride gets closer, I'll have more details/info on the route and such. I think most guys liked the ride being broken up into smaller segments last year, rather than one big 100 mile loop. Plans are to do the same again this year. I have one new loop I'd like to incorporate that's probably 50-60 miles, but nice curvy roads. Dan |

FYI, the Motel6 is within walking distance of Eat n Park restaurant, Hooters, El Campasino (good authentic Mexican), Denny's, and Ponderosa. Cracker Barrel, KFC, and Applebees are close, but across a 4 lane hwy, I'd suggest riding to those. There is also a bowling alley and movie theater in walking distance as well. |

Hey Xt! Glad you can make the ride. Every year the word spreads a little more and more and Buelligans come from farther and farther away for some great roads and great BBQ and most of all, just the chance to meet and ride with fellow BadWeb'rs. If you can make the diner for breakfast-DO IT! Their slogan is "You can't pay for entertainment this good!" And they live up to it every time I'm there. 2 weeks ago they were open at both locations, I'll be going past the original location tonight. Plans are to ride to the original location as it's a much better ride. If time is running short, we'll go to the new location. |

Is that the one in State College? |

The original is located just north of Port Matilda, about 5-6 miles from State College. They have a satellite location in SC as well. Are you thinkin' Friday night supper as well? If so, I'd suggest their new location in Grazierville/Tyrone as it has more creature comforts, actual seats and "adult beverages" should you choose. The PM location is just soda from a vending machine |
