Here's the short story/problem. Bike ('08 R) has been sitting for maybe three weeks, waiting for me to get the stock pipe back on. Got that done today. Went for a ride, and all my smiles quickly went away. On upshifts, there was a dead spot in the throttle. It felt like I was twisting about a half inch before anything happened, as opposed to the instantaneous rise in rpm. It was very disconcerting in city corners, where when I wanted to add power on, there was nothing for a split second and then, boom. I have never experienced anything like this in any bike. Anyone out there have any thoughts? Thanks for the help. |

Had the same problems, there is another thread awhile back talking about it. Someone said it was the EPA noid that gets sticky. Mine did it after sitting for several days, and yes it can be just out right frightening in city traffic. The way I fixed it when mine was "sticky" was I reset the ECU and re-cal'd the throttle position sensor. But after reading the post fix posts on BadWeb, I don't really think what I did fixed my problem, I think the the back fire through the throttle bodies right before I shut her down probably fixed my problem. Other guys recommend you take the inner and outer air box off and check that the noid linkage is not bound; other said to lube it ( but other said that did nothing ) and one guy said to disconnect the actuator plug fixed it. I would see if I could get it free, make sure the stacks are clean and maybe run some top cylinder lube through the fuel to keep it clean. |

remove the solenoid cable at the throttle linkage and solenoid and then safety wire the throttle linkage together at the rear throttle linkage. that is what cured mine from doing exactly the same thing. i also sprayed teflon lubricant on the throttle linkages. be careful around the throttle bodies with debris and also when reinstalling the airbox bottom piece. the rubber piece goes on the airbox cover first and then pushes down over the throttle bodies. tim |

Thanks for the input(s) and bring more if you have it. I have had about 15 bikes in the last 10 years, since starting riding again as an adult. Jap bikes, Ducati, even quirky Moto Guzzi. I've been lucky, with really no problems. The Buell is new in my stable, but what a disappointment. It ran like glass one day, and then this. If it doesn't rectify, it won't stay long. I'd have to say from other posts, and these, big time design flaw. But, again, I really appreciate the feedback. |

Mine was exactly the same. A faulty 'noid caused it. Once disconnected, the problem went away. |

don't know if faulty was the right word. i remember something about it being there to ensure passing the EPA requirements only. once disconnected and throttle wired it should never happen again. it hasn't on either one of mine. tim |

EPA/CARB being the key here. they dont just regulate the tailpipe emissions they also regulate all noise from a motor vehicle. for instance on my 97 blazer big ol v-6 breathing through a straw. opened the airbox and suddenly i had a whole new truck. with extra noise. |

ive had zero problems with mine. but like most bikes now a days theres always a pesky goverment part on it that effects stuff. with this bike i just kinda excepted theres a couple things that need to be fixed. de-noiding is one of them. i could see why some of the stuff could put some riders off. like my dad is 55yrs old and that guy will not raise a wrench. so i could see if he bought a bike and this type of thing could really bother him. but.. it doesnt should like ur problem is with the noid. unless its defective. take it to the dealer. and good luck. make sure u fill us in |

Mods are one thing, we do them. Think ahead, think it thru. It's a NEW bike... warranty... dealer... free. As long as it's not something you modded. BTW, I'll be 55 this year, last service I had to rotate my engine. The one looming in a week or 2 I get to do the fork tubes. I enjoy it. Z |

It's good to know that at 58 yrs. old I'm still in good company with you all. It's been 20 yrs. since I did any real racing but I'm having a blast with this 1125, and already thinking of mods. I'm so immature! |

I havn't a lack of throttle response on my 09CR as of yet but I HAVE had that noid kick in...scared the SHIT out of me. Went to pass some slow moving traffic, I down shifted and (attempted) to blaze past them. I gave the throttle a hard twist, bike starts to rev then BAM...it was like someone shut it off for 2 seconds and turned it back on. VERY, VERY unsafe and I definitely need to tear that thing out by the roots. |

You're a youngster Zac! I'm 2 years ahead of you. I didn't do the full 12K service myself though. I chickened out. Being in the AARP crowd, like Highlander Zac and I, doesn't mean we don't know one end of the wrench from the other!

Any 08R seems to be affected, like Court said, get new ones that are RevD. I have spent a thousand miles riding a popcorn machine and it sucked. I've spent 17.4k miles grinning so big it hurts. This is the most fun I've ever had with a machine, I almost fell guilty. (I was raised Catholic) Z |

I bought a 2008 new from the dealer. Mine has the same throttle issue you are talking about (only 200 miles on it and did not show up until bike is hot). The Dealer said they tracked it down to the soleniod. They ordered one from the factory. Did not fix the issue. They are waiting to hear back from the tech support guys. The bike has been in the shop for almost as long as I have owned it. |

Just for fun, if u don't use a battery tender, throw it on a battery charger over nite and see what happens. These things can be very sensitive to low voltage. Always start with the simple stuff. |
