I believe Lynn will be riding with us as she rides her own bike. Some other American brand of bike, not Buell... ...She won't be flipping off those Buell rider's I hope! |

My wife Macy was going to come along on the s3, but a family obligation came up. so I will be traveling alone. Route for me is in flux, but basically 5 days, across Washington from Olympia, up Lolo Pass, a few zigzags to Yellowstone, down through Grand Teton, then a mish mash of highways down the spine of the Rockies. Should pull in midday on friday. Booked for three nights and will pull out on monday. Probably coming back across nevada to the coast and back up on 101. I have two+ weeks and plan to use all of it. I love the smell of new tires... a new set of Diablo Stradas showed up on my door today and now the whole garage smells of new rubber. Just waiting on some new brake pads to arrive before I pull off the wheels and spoon on the new shoes on for the trip. 28.5 days tic tic tic tic . . . Shane |

I talked to the manager of the Hotel and they released all rooms that had not been taken. She said only 5 people made reservations but I imagine that some people made reservations and may not have mentioned the Buell Rally. I know a few are staying in Salida and at least one maybe two are camping. 22 Days. I look forward to seeing everyone. I spent some of yesterday planning the first ride. I think I listed it as the Loveland Pass ride in the handout. I made some modifications to that ride to allow time for pics and lunch. It will be in the final handout. I may leave the same map in the handout as it is not that detailed anyway. I hope to have a suitable restaurant picked out for the awards this weekend, depending on my condition. (I am a little ill right now) I look forward to seeing everyone. Frank |

Yes, I wouldn't be in their count. I slipped my reservation in on the internet with a AAA discount. Printing the last batch of T-shirts this weekend, so they will go out Priority Mail on Monday. I'm looking forward to having some time away from the job and being out on the road on the bike. |

No problem Loren. I just found us a restaurant called the Roosters Crow Cafe in Buena Vista at 527 N 24. They are closed in the evening but will open for us so we can have the whole restaurant for ourselves. Our reservations are at 6pm on Saturday night. This is when we will hand out awards and may play a little S2 trivia game. Frank |

THat hand-out was a phenominal bit of work. No, it is really no big deal. The hard part is yet to come. I am really looking forward to this. Everyone have a safe journey out to Colorado. I am really hoping the weather settles a bit. Just remember, when it rains in Colorado you get cold. I will be heading to WI soon and after I return I will be riding to NM so this was my last weekend to get everything done. If anyone needs anything please give me a yell. Loren, it looks like I can take Thursday off so when you get to Limon (I-70 and 24) give me a call. I will head to Peyton Colorado and meet you at the only gas station there and will guide you around Colorado Springs and Pueblo so you do not have to deal with the traffic except for about 15 mies on I-25. I am wondering what Hotel you are staying at in Canon City? Frank |

Frank, we are staying at the Hampton Inn on Thursday. We may do a little tourist stuff in Colorado Springs and then I was planning on getting to Canon City via 115 on the North Side of Fort Carson. It looks like it will be a nice route and get me off the darn interstate although traffic doesn't bother me it's just boring and I will have had enough of that after I-70. |

Ok Loren, sounds like you are good to go. Let me know if I can do anything. Yes, 115 is a favorite of many of us. It is also one of the most dangerous roads in Colorado so be mindful of wildlife and cars crossing into your lane. Have a safe trip! Frank |

Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. Major Bummer!!! I was so looking forward to this but some scheduling at work is going to keep me from attending. I hate it when work gets in the way of an excellent adventure. Have fun and be safe guys. I'll be waiting for posts and pics. Bruce |

julie, we will leave the hotel around 9am and will take an easy ride through Breck and over Loveland pass, stop for lunch then head back. We have the dinner that night with the S2 awards and door prizes. I am in Buena Vista now but have not checked in yet. Sun is up in the air but maybe down 50 and to the Royal Gorge. Frank |

The first S2 Gathering has come to past. I am still busy getting boxes out, letters and some other goodies to those who helped out. I would like to thank everyone for their support in putting this event together. It is not something I would want to do everyday with a real job and other activities but I feel that it was well worth the effort. Ross (Phelan) will be putting together next years event and I ask that you give him all the support that you gave me and Rex. I am hoping that everyone that wants to come can make it. I know several were not able to attend this year and that is understandable. As the event (to be in a different location each year) moves across North America maybe it will give everyone a chance to attend. While this was an event to celebrate the Buell S2 Thunderbolt it is really the people that own and ride these great bikes that make it worth the time and effort. When was the last time you saw 10 S2s lined up in a parking lot? Or seen a group of them motor over a Colorado mountain pass (in the rain no less)? As a S2 guy I cannot begin to express my excitement to meet all the people that showed up. People that rode straight from NY and LA and others that broke the journey up into a few days from AZ, KS, CA, TX, WA and Canada. Each one will have a different story to tell but they all center around the S2. Thanks again everyone for your help, your positive attitude and safe riding skills. See you next year at a location and time to be determined. Frank S2 Rider (Message edited by f_skinner on June 26, 2009) |

Frank, Even though I wasn't able to attend, thanks for all the work on this little get together. I'm positive all your efforts were much appreciated by all who were there. Rex, same goes for you and all the others that helped organize this event. I'm anxiously awaiting next years gathering. Brad |
