I'm having a starting problem with my P3 Blast that only clicks when attempting to start. I tested the starter relay with an unusual result. After connecting (+) to 86 and (-) to 85, I have continuity between the 30 and 87A terminals and no continuity between the 30 and 87 terminals. When removing voltage, both contacts change state. That's just the opposite result that the factory repair manual states. I've heard of relays failing open or closed but not opposite. Is the factory manual correct??? |

Sorry I don't have time to check out mine for you. But they only cost about $5 at any auto store. |

Maybe you are misreading the terminal IDs. Did you pull the relay out to check it by itself? If there are other similar relays on the bike, repeat the tests on those to see if you get the same results. If they all check out OK, try swapping the relays around to see if it starts or if the symptoms change. If the relays are OK, try charging the battery with a low rate charger, 2 amps or less. Check the condition of the battery cables and the ground cable connections at the battery and the frame. |
