So I have on 08 that is finally through break in and I want to readjust my suspension. Bike rides a bit rough over bumps. When I initially set it up I used the 210-230 weight range in the 2008 manual. I am thinking I need to take it down to the 190-210 range considering I weigh about 205 without gear. My question is should I use the chart for the 09 or the 08? Or does it even matter? |

Yea I am just wondering if the 09 spec sheet is ok to go by. I thought I read that it was actually better to use but I can't remember. |

What I don't understand...is why ask others...? Only YOU can tell if you're happy or not with your setup! Funny thing...if you don't like your changes, change it/them again. Keep a good mental note...OR..a pen/pencil and paper will do better than most memories anyway. If you "do" get lost...go back to the book settings.........and start over. Mike |

I think there is a post in here somewhere from anon that they had different springs in the 09's. If that's the case you wouldn't want to follow the 09 manual for an 08. I set mine up by sag 35mm front 25mm rear. It's not any softer, but it handles so much better. |

Yes, different front fork springs in the '08s. I think there are even different charts for the '08s, but I can't remember for certain. |

We really do need a suspension sticky. The REVISED settings for the 2008 1125r are on Buell's owner web site. They are pretty good, but I personally still think preload click # 2 is very good for a 190lb guy with 10bs of gear (19 compression damping clicks, factory rebound). I think they recommend click #3, which put's the rear too low. I'd rather maxing out the damping before going to preload. IMO, higher rear makes for better handling. To an extent, the rear ride height will determine front end weight bias. IMO, it's always best to keep the rear a little higher and sort the front after. Get the rear sorted and comfortable, keeping the front compression damping minimal until the rear is dialed. THen, if you want quicker steering, adjusts front fork for stiffness. FWIW, I have very good tire wear with my settings. |

Looking at this thread got me thinking because I had the dealer set up my suspension and I have not really been that impressed with it. I re did the suspension settings according to the table on the Buell website and they are 100% better now. It is amazing what a difference it makes now that I have the suspension dialed into my weight. I compared my manual, printed in October 2007 with the table on the Buell website and the tables are exactly the same for the '08 model. The '09 chart has stiffer settings though as compared to the '08 chart. Mike |

Apparently there are different spring rates in '08 bikes produced after 7/7/2008 and the '09 bikes. Here is the previous thread which talks about it. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/398343.html So, if your bike was built before 7/7/2008; use the setting in the '08 manual. If your bike was built after 7/7/2008; use the settings in the '09 manual. Mike |
