I just ordered a pair of Kevlar-reinforced jeans (hope they fit!) and I'm wondering what sort of protection I can really expect from them. Anybody here fall off wearing something similar?

Yep--My old Shift "Torque" jeans shredded upon contact. I had a low-speed low-side (<20 mph) caused by centerstand/pavement incompatibility; I tore the jeans the very first day I wore them out!

There was a little slide, then a quick roll and I ended up on my feet MAX 6 ft from the initial point of road contact--the jeans were worn to the pocket layer and yes there was plenty of blood to go around! So...a recap of the damage:

-1 Belt loop seam torn
-Left-side hip perforated THROUGH the pocket (That means I was showin' leg!)
-Rear right pocket was worn through to my leather wallet-the wallet fared well!
-Left Ankle cuff tore about 7 inches up to the top of my boot.
-Various other tears, scuffs and abrasions.

The jeans were useless after they endured their 1 day tour of duty! The jeans WILL not stop much-please get some leg armor if you wear jeans!

Thanks! That's just the information I was looking for. I had hoped for a more positive report.

I use Bohn leg protection under jeans - haven't had to test it yet, though. It is probably best when used in combo w/ leather over top instead of denim. That way, you get abrasion protection and armor padding for impacts on knees, hips and butt/tailbone.

Kevlar reenforced jeans don't work for the reasons Drum3rjay just said. The seams tear.

But, fully kevlar pants with armour will totally work. Motoport makes the best kevlar stuff, well worth it. motoport.com.
