Kristi, search isn't working for me. Is it just me, or is it broken? |

The search, among other things, are not working right now. Blake is out of town, but has been notified. |

Fess up Mike...you're not on U-tube again are you? |

No u-tube, but there was a slow moving suv and double yellow lines on a curvy road involved. Thankfully the sheriff beside the road was on parade duty for the ride for kids, so he couldn't pursue, just flashed his lights. |

Sounds like a MTB72 pulled a fast one. I kind of did that to a slow moving scooter. The dude was putting along in a little 50 or 75cc unit. No bubbles around to flash me though. 10 day forecast really stinks for G'boro. Goin' 4 wheeling at URE on Friday to get my other thrill. Have a new oil pan skid plate to test out. I have a short video on youtube that shows my Buell and my "other mid-life crisis" vehicle. Not as nimble or a frugal on gas. But it can get my heart into my throat sometimes. (search "fishgutzy" to find it.) |

Question. How difficult is it to swap out the exhaust for a Jardine or other aftermarket noise maker? I would think that the ECU would have to be reprogrammed since the twin chamber and connection would be gone. It is something I would only do for tone. The best thing I can do to improve performance in get from a XXL down to an L. (Worked back when I had a little 440LTD. Factory max speed rating was 77. I managed to peg the speedo at 85 when I got down under 160lbs, laid down on the tank and put my feet on the back pegs.) |

Fishgutz - I don't think it's difficult. Several people here are using drummers. I don't think you have to map the ECU, it has some ability to learn. Things will probably work better if you do map it though. I know American Sport Bike sells maps for various configurations. Jim |

The Drummer stainless looks nice. Twig has one on his 9. Nice tone. It will be next Spring before I do anything. Maybe by then I'll have lost enough fat to be worth seeking "alternative means" to improve the performance. But for now, give that this is the most powerful bike I have ever owned, I'm quite happy with it as is. Any opinions out there on the various exhaust options? I have listened to some audio files included in one exhaust shout out. But spinning up on a Dyno is not the same as spin up under a load on the street. Jardine is supposedly loud enough that if you want to go to Virginia beach you better have the silencer insert to shove in. |

Fishgutz - The drummer is made in North Carolina by a member of this board. As such it enjoys a soft spot in my heart. All the aftermarket pipes are too loud for my tastes though. They make my ears ring if my earplugs aren't seated well. But I inherited some hearing issues, I don't think they would bother most. |

Would be neat to see a C3 member win this: http://www.buell.com/en_us/experience/adventure-gr ant/ They won't let dealership employees enter. |

We're going tomorrow (FRIDAY). Playing hooky My 4 wheeler is a modified Jeep Wrangler. Meeting at Eldorado at 9AM. If you can make it, look for a fat man in a fat black Jeep. My toy makes a cameo appearance in my only Buell video on Youtube as "my other mid-life crisis." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6D7GRauIYQ |

Any of you guys checking out the Smokeout in Rockingham next weekend? With the 69th Annual Spring Rally coming to New Bern, I couldn't think of anyplace I'd rather be than at the Smokeout in Rockingham. I've got Friday as a vacation day and I'll be there (probably on the V-Rod)! 1313 |

Took my son for his first "long" ride today. We rode up to Hanging Rock visitor center 65 to 89. Came back 89 to 8 to 65 and home. Son is a quick learner. At .25 inches shy of 6 feet he only needs to tilt his head a little to see forward. (Yeah I know, 13 years old and almost my height.) By the return trip he was leaning with me like a pro. He enjoyed the route a lot more this way than in my Jeep with the top and doors off. When we got back I tried to talk the wife into going out for a mother's day ride. But she wouldn't. She hasn't been on the back of a bike with me since November of 1989 when we went to see "Drug Store Cowboy." |

Got rid of the winter crud from the XT-BOLT today:
Yeah, it's a little late in coming, but the rain lately has made me wait some. So it also went back to the 'summer look':
And a special guest has made a reappearance:
Also got rid of the sap the V-Rod collected during the 105th...
And the S2 stayed dusty in the garage...As I had to take the XT-BOLT out for a ride! Only to find gravel in all the corners on Askins Brick Road, loose gravel on the majority of 17, pokey people on the road by the Bridgeton Food Lion, more pokey people going down the road by the Outback, and - FINALLY - the road to myself coming back up the road by the Outback. Saw LOTS of law out today, but what do you expect - It's Mother's Day... Seriously though, why so heavily patrolled on a Sunday? Most of my experiences today were people out for the typical Sunday drive. Our tax dollars at work paying shift premiums for State Troopers (saw 4, and 2 of them were on 17) and Sheriffs (saw 3, but only 1 was on 17) to work a holiday? A clean bike is a happy bike? 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on May 10, 2009) |

I'm excited! I leave Friday on my first cross country motorcycle trip. Traveling alone with destination Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit my daughter. I'm also working on the Iron Butt National Parks Tour (my goal for the year). So I'll be trying to stop at as many National Parks in the states I cross along the way. Plan is to go up through Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and return through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. I'll create a thread in the C3 Adventure section and post periodic updates/pictures once I get on the road. Jim & Brankin, I know you guys have done these types of trips before. Any suggestions or helpful tips? Maybe points of interest to see along the way? |

Will you be doing long days? Probably not. I've done 500 mile days on the R, but I'm beat afterwords. I'll try and keep it to 250 - 350 miles a day. |

I think it is 421 out of Mountain City not 441. One trip I made I took a road off the parkway between Linvill and Blowing Rock that was great. I stopped to get lunch in Boone and I told a guy about it, and he said He knew and that road and it had 100 and some turns in a few miles. Do you all know what road that would be?? I want to find it again. |
